Hi ! At the beginning we have R(a) - R(b) = 4 so R(a) - R (b) > 0 so R(a) > R (b) so a > b. And at the end you show 2 possible solutions. In the second one, you submit a < b. In my opinion, there is only one solution for a and b, the 1st one...

a = 12-8sqrt(2) and b = 12+8sqrt(2) are not solution because sqrt(a)-sqrt(b) = -4. Have a good evening from France

Oh dear, you’ve got a false solution. Your second solution gives sqrt a - sqrt b = -4. This is because you squared. If you square an equation, beware of false solutions.
