Take note that in Duterte's term, the Philippines warmed up to China's friendship but even then, the latter still harassed poor Filipino fishermen on the side. How can one trust a "friend" that harasses your children and take away what is theirs? Also, the Filipino nation honors her agreement with the US which was signed long before the West Philippine Sea conflict. That does not make her a pet dog because the Philippines is independent in her policies.
