Highlights from the ExCeL - South Arena 3 as China's Lu Xiaojun wins gold in the men's 77kg weightlifting event at the London 2012 Olympic Games (1 August 2012).
China's Lu Haojie made it a double medal victory for the country with Cuba's Ivan Cambar Rodriguez winning bronze for his nation.
Although men's weightlifting has always been on the programme of the Olympic Games - except for at the 1900, 1908 and 1912 editions -- women started to participate only at the 2000 Games in Sydney.
The Olympic weightlifting programme has evolved greatly over time. Today, weightlifters compete in snatch and clean and jerk, and are placed according to their total combined result. From the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, men have competed in eight weight categories and women in seven. This total of 15 events remains unchanged.

Asian the strongest race pound for pound
@anaussie213
@anaussie213 3 жыл бұрын
No way, there are billions of them. They aren't ahead in any physical attributes including strength p4p (as if that was the case no other country would stand a chance against the billions of them). Cuba came third here. How many Cubans are there, 11 million? Now imagine if there were 1.4 billion of them...
@Intranetusa
@Intranetusa 3 жыл бұрын
@@anaussie213 Yeh, most of people's physical differences are due to nutrition, culture, etc. If everyone had the same diet, same culture, same access to healthcare, same physical hobbies, etc, then the physical profiles of people around the world would be much more similar. As for the fact that over a billion people are in the same country - that fact actually hurts their chances of winning more medals because one country can only send 4 people to the Olympics. That region of the world would probably win more medals if a big country like China was divided up into multiple smaller countries because then they'd get to send much more people to the Olympics. For example, North Korea is a tiny country and it dominates in some weight lifting categories too.
@Intranetusa
@Intranetusa 3 жыл бұрын
This has little to do with being Asian, and Asian isn't even a race (and race itself isn't a great indicator of biological features either). Most of people's physical differences are due to nutrition, culture, etc. If everyone had the same diet, same culture, same access to healthcare, same physical hobbies, etc, then the physical profiles of people around the world would be much more similar.

@@Intranetusa nope wrong race does play a role how are u gona explains why all the faster men are mostly black?
@Intranetusa
@Intranetusa 3 жыл бұрын
@@abcwarrior91 Nope, wrong. What you're describing isn't race, but a concept closer to geographic ethnicity. Why are many current long distance endurance runners who aren't fast at all mostly dark skinned people from one part of Africa? Why are some of the world's best weight lifters from a different part of Africa? Why are sprinters from yet another different part? That contradicts your claim about 'all black men' being fast. You can't be both fast sprinters and long distance runners and strong weight lifters at the same time because these exercises use completely different types of muscles (fast twitch vs slow twitch) in completely different parts of the body. Different groups of people in every single continent adapted to very different climates and geographic conditions. They also have very different cultures, diets, and hobbies, etc. That is why science has abandoned the use of race in favor of genetic markers tied to geographic ethnicity. And race was never solely biology, but a heavily based on culture and politics. In America, a 98% European ancestry person could be considered black because of the one drop rule. Chinese and Japanese people used to be considered two different races by some countries out of political ideology. Irish people occasionally got lumped together with Africans in the 1800s on racial categories. Race was not really a scientific concept.
