The Liuzhi Bridge, a key project of the Naqing Expressway in China, sets multiple global records; its main pier height, single-span length, and total bridge length are the highest of all existing hollow continuous rigid frame bridges. Its construction against high mountains and deep valleys surmounts complex geological structures, poor transportation, severe weather, and high ecological standards. Comprehensive mapping and geophysical exploration techniques were used to accommodate the unique challenges. The bridge's design utilizes a hollow continuous rigid frame beam structure, suitable for mountain highway routes and cost-efficient compared to suspension or cable-stayed bridges. The project has applied for more than 20 patents related to concrete temperature control systems, hydraulic climbing formwork template layout systems, and more.
