I worked for a giant American corporation that owned a mine in the Congo, they had to sell it in 2015, China bought it. Some workers from that mine told me things changed drastically. Bonuses where taken away meals where taken away and the overall working environment went to crap.

@Tracy81258 Hi I'm an Azorean Environmental Biologist and here in The Azores (Portugal) the Chinese boats come to our marine protection areas that are wildlife sanctuaries where no one can fish ANYTHING so that the fish stocks there can grow and repopulate other areas where they are fished , but the Chinese boats come at night they turn off their GPS transponders and go ilegally there to use huge nets and catch everything they can destroying entire ecosystems and our fish stock has been depleting a lot even though we don't fish more than before

There are such low profit margins for forestry in New Zealand that almost all our logs go straight to China as green logs sell for more there :( It means NZ's domestic timber market needs don't get met and even more sawmills go under.

In the 20th century, the Africans were left to chose for themselves. Look at pictures of Sudbury (Rhodesia then, Zimbabwe now) in 1960 and today. Look at South Africa and all social and economic indicators. Look at Ethiopia (which was never conquered or colonized) and compare it to Thailand (which was never conquered or colonized). Africa is not even trying to catch a break.
