China’s Z-10ME Attack Helicopter Aims For Buyers At Singapore Airshow As Chinese Arms Exports Slow

The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) displayed its Z-10 attack helicopter for the first time outside its home country at the 2024 Singapore Airshow. At the 2024 Singapore Airshow, the company displayed the export version of the attack helicopter, known as the Changhe Z-10ME-02. The helicopter was on display alongside other weapons like rocket launchers, GR5 guided rockets and air-to-air missiles CM-502KG and TY-90. The Z-10 is already in service with the PLA and is among the helicopter models used in drills on the border with India and near Taiwan. Watch the video to find out more about the helicopter.

Chinese made military (and civilian) aircraft and other products are well known for poor performance where it matters, and the initial low cost masks many costly (time and money) repairs and upgrades needed to perform on par with western counterparts. Just ask Pakistan, Myanmar, and other countries currently using Chinese made military aircraft. Russian made aircraft do perform better than Chinese made aircraft, however, but they do cost more.

Here in the Philippines, our military just ordered 3 C130J Super Hercules from Lockheed to be delivered on 2026. 2 Corvette class ships from South Korea also for 2026. BRAHMOS Missiles from India which the first batch will be coming this month. Acero-Class gunboats from Israel to be delivered next year. There are plans for a new submarine but the government is still deciding on which country they should buy.

Pakistan will buy more than 30 of these and guess what they perform better than the Turkish T-129 ATAK attack helicopters. Pakistan Army got some of T-129 ATAK and Z-10M for testing, both performed well but Z-10M was more capable despite being many times cheaper than the Turkish T-129 ATAK. The only issue with Z-10M was its engine and some other things as the copter was unable to lift heavy payload. China developed and improved the copter because of negative feedback by the Pakistan Army and introduced another variant called Z-10ME-01. The new variant was a beast as a new engine was fitted, WZ-9G 1200 kW engine, with dozens of other upgrades. The most recent variant was displayed in this airshow called Z-10ME-02 and China will export those to Pakistan. I know the Indians are now gonna attack me but hey its a reality my friend.

I mean the cat is out the bag, too many countries that have brought military equipment from both Russia and china have complained about faulty or just stuff that doesn’t work at all, if you brought a tv or washing machine that didn’t work your not exactly gonna be promoting it to your neighbours
