Thank you so much. I'm so sick of assumptions people made about Vietnam, which includes Vietnam war, Communist party and low living standard. In fact, most of the Vietnamese people are quite care-free and kind-hearted and have strong sense of belonging to community. Communal and familial values practiced throughtout our history has formed a culture that can't be intervened by any political institutions.

I am a white American who lives in Thailand and married a Thai. I have been here 6 years . I visit Vietnam a cpla times a year. I was 20 when I began my 30 months in the military in the war. Now when I go, I have Vietnamese friends, veterans of the American war, and I was welcomed everywhere I went. It reminded me of south Vietnam years ago. Just the average person on the street loved me! ...And the food. I love Thai food. I have a very large Vietnamese restaurant not too far from my house and often go there, or pick up returning home and at times order for delivery. I have never ever had a single negative experience in Vietnam ( or Thailand for that matter). O(n my 2 visits to China, it was so uncomfortable... so very uncomfortable. I will never go to China again. You guys are welcome to stop by here and even stay a little while in my humble abode. One of you would sleep on my sofa bed. BTW, I think some Chinese a wonderful, but the tourism industry has a very large Chinese contingent. And OMG they re the rudest, loudest, most pushy people in a crowd I have ever seen. And spit. Good God do they like to spit. Spit everywhere . And it doesn't matter...I saw a group once at a Big Buddha tourist spot . They were screaming so loud at one another you couldn't have a conversation . Then I noticed the spitting ...right on the walkway into the temple. Me, a white American...and I was appalled...I was aghast! It was so rude. Several Thais gave them dirty looks, but by and large the Thais are too polite to even correct someone. It is considered proper to maintain a "cool heart" and a "cool head" ...not lose your temper..... Once, at a hotel check out, there was some sort of problem, the clerk explained it, the Chinese kept bitching and bitching...finally I had had enough. Man I went ballistic. Not loud, but I gave them a tongue-lashing they wont soon forget. English...but still. I flat tod them I was not going to tolerate him berating my friend like that. My friend was doing her job, but was too polite to even defend herself. Short of fisticuffs, I believe that is the most drama filled interaction I have ever had. I was so mad. I had been in that hotel for about 2 weeks...and this was my 3rd stay for about 2 weeks to a month. I knew the staff , and found them to be wonderful. China has a long way to go. Not all. Not every one. But dear God, as a whole, they are a nasty. greedy, rude, impolite society today after a lifetime of communism. No God, no Family...2 of the previous BIG influences in Chinese life, now gone. They will reap what they sow.

I totally agree with you, when I was in China I found that Chinese people don’t really smile at foreigners, they give you a suspicious look, I felt like I wasn’t well recepted, I worried about being scammed, I worried about the Chinese goverment watching me and my internet activities there were times I worried about my safety, where as in Vietnam people smiled, they welcomed you as a foreigner, I felt safe, being on the internet felt comfortable like I wasnt being monitored, food was cheap, didnt feel like I was going to be scammed, the atmosphere was more relaxed. Overall my experience in Vietnam was way better than in China.

Living in Vietnam has brought me much joy. Its a country with many optimizations. As a Vietnam Veteran, I have found the people are not only being forgiving but also forgetting. They don't hold grudges, even in traffic conflicts. Its people bring to the table the greatest asset of all - their personhood. Here you can easily see people that possess respect for each other, honor to elders, family, and country. They have compassion for the poor within their borders and are thankful if they are aware that you wish to assist them. They are patriotic people, they support and have praise for their country. Its future is many-faceted. Most recently, the Chinese Communist Party has had a falling out with President Trump because of the "Chinese virus" unleashed upon the globe. The CCP is now in Trump's floodlight and suffering a crisis of many of the businesses exiting China, China losing the lead role in G5 technology, Huawei being retired to the defeated pile of wannabes, the one belt-one rode is turning into a dead-end or at least a detour (Do not fight with Trump), and Vietnam is reaping great institutional gains of foreign business. This is a shot of hope and advancement for the Vietnamese people. They see a brighter future. On the medical front, we have to put a large feather in the cap of the Vietnamese government for combating the Co-Vid 19. They spared nothing in tackling this unseen enemy. The ex-pats here speak highly of their victory and foreigners feel comfortably safe being in the lockdown of Vietnam instead of their home countries. Again, Vietnamese people are born out of a wonderful culture that is strongly family-oriented and they find their liberty and freedom therein. Although the government is Communist, I would say there seems to be a clash of mindsets. The people in government lean and align themselves to China, while its citizens poll strongly to the West. All and in all, Vietnam is a wonderful country with the most friendly people. May God bless Vietnam.

well i must disagree you in the part where you said "the people in government lean and align themselves to China", vietnamese GoV is very anti-china, but they're not showing it. For example, there were a "civil conflict" between "Vietnamese civil" and "Chinese workers" in the northern border happened like ~10 years ago, the Vietnamese gov themselves planned the whole conflict yet they still bring the siren to border and shouting to our "Vietnamese citizen" to "stop fighting and keep the peace with the chinese" ;) , it's complicated and not always show as it seems.

I have never been to China but I have been to Vietnam and it was one of the most amazing places Ive ever been. A beautiful country full of beautiful people. Seriously. I am Canadian so I look and sound American and people were incredibly kind and friendly to me. Yes, there are a lot of people who want your money, but there are also a lot of people who are very generous and will share things with you expecting nothing in return. I find it funny that Winston loves the food there so much now because I specifically remember watching a video with him and C-milk where they were saying they didnt care for Vietnamese food and found it to just be boring soupy meals. Which I found really surprising because I friggen LOVE Vietnamese food and was like dude you guys just dont know what you are missing. One thing I noticed about Vietnam, yes there are a lot of poor people with very little, but they are still so happy. Coming back to Canada, people have everything they could want and they are still miserable and complain about everything. Kind of makes you think.

Vietnamese prefer the more bitter Robusta. Ironically Robusta is dirt cheap and considered "inferior" to Arabica. Westerners consume mostly Arabica of course. Hi Winston, I am Vietnamese, it's really interesting watching your videos about Vietnam and your opinion about the differences between China and Vietnam. To most Westerners, they don't see much of the differences when they first come here but you and C-Milk can bring out some valid points about this. I am sure the longer you stay in our country, you will discover more, like it more and maybe one day, you might decide to migrate to Vietnam with your beautiful doctor wife to live for good hahaha. It would be great if you could convince your wife to go on a trip and visit our country for a few weeks so she can enjoy the good things you have experienced in Vietnam. Everyone would come up to me to take photos and touch me,. They saw me as a giant. As you know they are short thin people. Some even thought i was a Hollywood Actor, kept asking what films i was in. Dads would come up to me and make me hold their baby sons in my big arms and i would give them a gentle hug & a smile. I asked my guide why was that and she said the Vietnamese believe my quality in being tall would magically be passed onto their sons. LOL

I've been to both countries a lot. The BIG difference is that Vietnam is a HAPPY country while China is not. Vietnam has far more individual freedom than the West. As a Westerner, if you asked me after living, as I have in Vietnam for 32 years what's the best aspect about Vietnam, I'd say the harmony and balance between the sexes. There is no discrimination or rabid feminism. Both men and women have equal rights and opportunities and happily live their lives. Religion and petty restriction do not interfere with anyone, unlike the West.

China and Vietnam are two totally different places. It may seem like China was like Vietnam 15 years ago so perhaps 15 years from now Vietnam will be like China, however that is totally off. Vietnam does not have a "we once owned the world so we are the best" type of culture like China does. Vietnam has always been fighting off superpowers for almost their entire history and thus they are kind yet confident, and totally open to outsiders. Don't disrespect anyone and you will be treated with nothing but respect.

For your listeners, forget Chjna except for travel, but getting very expensive, Vietnam definitely for travel and work, much cheaper and open as stated.

Perfect timing on this informative video. My wife and I are heading over to Vietnam (TPHCM) next week to visit her family. It's been 10 years since the last time we were there. Been watching a few recent videos from vloggers visiting and I can tell it's changed a bit since the last time we visited. Since being with my wife of course I've made a lot of Vietnamese friends who are some of the most friendly people I've ever known. Thanks for the video.

@@minhscollection6209 thats the flag of South Vietnam. its all over the place in Little Saigon even decades after the fall of SV. If anyone displays a current VN flag they will get a ton of abuse. The VN in the US are staunchly anti-commuinitst - indeed most of them fled the communists as boat people or were actual members of the SVN government or army, or their family.

As a longtime fan, I want to respond to the Cmilk comments and ADV. Your channel has always interested me and brought value to my life, because you go for the truth and have balls to say things others don't. Cmilk often adds value to the channel as well, with his humour and insights. I do think people are getting kind of annoyed by the click bate titles and tacky thumbnails on his channel, like "5 things I hate about my Chinese wife," and then viewing the video and having to view promotions and testimonials for ADV's products and VPNS, etc. People want content that's real and edgy. The marketing and advertising ratios are taking away the utility and enjoyment of watching them - especially with the increased ads on KZbin. All the same, I am still a supporter of all three channels. STAY AWESOME!

Fun fact: almost right after the Vietnam War and during a border crisis, China invaded the still wartorn Vietnam. Vietnam held them off and that conflict ended that year. Later that same year, China and Vietnam went at it again, and while it was a stalemate, might as well be another win for Vietnam.

There is no animosity in Vietnam today is because all young Vietnamese today do not consider the Vietnam war as the War between North and South Vietnam, it was the war between the communism and capitalism or between the USSR and American sides. Unfortunately, it was happened in their motherland 😥 . Through out history of over 4000 years since the first Vietnam nation established, they have had just around 1000 years of living in peace, imagine 4000 years of wars with other countries, specially with China ancient nations. Vietnam was also one of the few countries that Mongolian Empire failed to invade (3 fucking times). The Vietnamese are desired to have the greatest respects from people all over the world!!! 🌎🌍🌏 🇻🇳
