Trump already spoke to S. Korean president. S. Korea is known for their ship building and have built many LNG container ships. They can build as fast as China and with better quality. S. Korea is currently refurbishing older US made battleships plus building new battleships for US Navy. You saw how fast S. Korea can build battle tanks - those are shipped to Poland currently.

I have my doubts that the South Koreans are building and/or refurbishing battleships for the US Navy, considering that the US Navy doesn't use battleships. Perhaps it's the case that a South Korean company is doing maintenance on some of the battleships from the WWII era that are still capable of floating, but these ships are strictly educational and don't contribute anything towards the Navy's power projection.

Actually, given how comparatively small the Chinese navy is by tonnage, the opposite is likely true. Our boats are smaller in number but bigger in heft and firepower, not to mention the logistical miracle we pulled off in 1975 for Operation Paul Bunyan. The F-22 Raptor is basically unstoppable and the only aircraft capable of matching it is also on our side, the F-35. So, Chinese air superiority is all but impossible. The only advantage China really has over us is how close they are to the battlefield and how many men they can field. That said, The PLA isn't the force of fanaticism it was in, say, the Korean war. Chinese youth and males are dissatisfied and depressed, both of which make for poor soldiers.

There's also a lot of secret stuff or non-secret stuff that people don't think about that will come about all of a sudden once a war starts. Starlink, drones, and advances in computing(I won't call it AI because its nowhere near that point yet) means that drone swarms can be very useful. America has a ton of copper if we switched to 240V and thus freed up a massive amount of the stuff for building motors for drones.

China will be reliant on their air forces and naval assets for the most part. We outnumber them not only technically, but numerically. We put destroyers in Indian Ocean & the Malacca Straight & choke the life out of the Chinese economy & they can’t do anything about bc they don’t have a Blue Water navy yet like the Japanese. They simply don’t have the range or experience. China is not self-sufficient like the US. They import 70-80% of their energy from the Persian gulf & don’t grow sufficient food to feed their population. Why do you think they’re so gung-ho on militarizing the South China Sea. I don't think that materials will be AS big of a problem as some say. China gets a TON of raw materials from Australia and just refines them in house. If the U.S. just negotiates to get those resources in war times and establishes the industry to process those materials, then we have most of the materials and minerals China has relied on for decades. To quote the Art of War, “A wise general makes a point of foraging on the enemy. One cartload of the enemy's provisions is equivalent to twenty of one's own.”

Drones can be modified to recharge on power lines. Also Starlink does frequency hopping and thus is resistant to jamming and Tesla manufactures tons of nice lithium batteries in America. All you need is a good drone and a weapon for it and drone warfare can become automated.

@ryelor123 I don't know about "drones charging on power lines". I think there's might be deficiency of working power lines on the front line, but you definitely don't know how jamming works. Hopping frequency is not going to help.

It doesn’t mean we can’t do it again. This go round it will be very different. There is much more modern tech. Automation. My son works in a steel mill that produces seamless pipe for gas and oil. It’s automated. He sits in an environmentally controlled compartment with computers and screens. We aren’t reinventing the wheel here. Tech was being stolen from us. Not other way round. Next industrial revolution will leave China in the dust like ancient times. Best example was the chips. You know what I mean.

PLUS -- the CSIS wargame is crap because it assumes that Taiwan has no ability to effect China's invasion with its own missiles, mines, and countermeasures. That is a VERY stupid assumption. Korea makes the BEST most advanced chips -- so its missiles have the most advanced sensors and AEW abilities. Korea's missiles can hit 3-Gorges Dam, 1200 km away. Korea's missiles can hit China's warships in ports from Hong Kong to Shanghai. Korea's SAM and AIM missiles can hit EVERY China jet, especially AWACS and recon planes.

In WW2, the US lost 6 aircraft carriers in the Pacific. Yes, times and technology have changed, but not that much. A real, open war between the US and China would have massive casualties. As for the supply issue, the US and China at war would make the Ukraine War look like a minor skirmish. Supplies would be blown through instantly. And the US would be in the same position as Russia, being unable to replace aircraft, etc., because like Russia, the US has pursued globalism instead of domestic industry.

Did anyone think this wasn't planned ??? That the shipping of war materials, en mass, to the Ukraine wasn't designed to cause a critical shortage of the same for the US ? That a conflict wouldn't occur at this inopertune time ??? Add to that the desimation of the strategic reserves of oil, and the intent becomes clear.

I think the USA should add smaller aircraft carriers to their fleet. The big, powerful, expensive carriers are so valuable that the USA must be scared of losing one or more of them so they need to focus more on protecting them than on attacking their enemies.
