Trump already spoke to S. Korean president. S. Korea is known for their ship building and have built many LNG container ships. They can build as fast as China and with better quality. S. I have my doubts that the South Koreans are building and/or refurbishing battleships for the US Navy, considering that the US Navy doesn't use battleships. Perhaps it's the case that a South Korean company is doing maintenance on some of the battleships from the WWII era that are still capable of floating, but these ships are strictly educational and don't contribute anything towards the Navy's power projection.

Actually, given how comparatively small the Chinese navy is by tonnage, the opposite is likely true. Our boats are smaller in number but bigger in heft and firepower, not to mention the logistical miracle we pulled off in 1975 for Operation Paul Bunyan. The F-22 Raptor is basically unstoppable and the only aircraft capable of matching it is also on our side, the F-35. So, Chinese air superiority is all but impossible. The only advantage China really has over us is how close they are to the battlefield and how many men they can field. That said, The PLA isn't the force of fanaticism it was in, say, the Korean war. Chinese youth and males are dissatisfied and depressed, both of which make for poor soldiers.

There's also a lot of secret stuff or non-secret stuff that people don't think about that will come about all of a sudden once a war starts. Starlink, drones, and advances in computing(I won't call it AI because its nowhere near that point yet) means that drone swarms can be very useful. If the U.S. just negotiates to get those resources in war times and establishes the industry to process those materials, then we have most of the materials and minerals China has relied on for decades. To quote the Art of War, “A wise general makes a point of foraging on the enemy. One cartload of the enemy's provisions is equivalent to twenty of one's own.”

Did anyone think this wasn't planned ??? That the shipping of war materials, en mass, to the Ukraine wasn't designed to cause a critical shortage of the same for the US ? That a conflict wouldn't occur at this inopertune time ??? Add to that the desimation of the strategic reserves of oil, and the intent becomes clear.

Forty years to replace an aircraft carrier? What does that tell us about current designs? It tells me that the carriers of today are too big and too complex.

China make 2 aircraft carriers in 3 years

@ And your point?
@danielstapler4315Ай бұрын
I think the USA should add smaller aircraft carriers to their fleet. The big, powerful, expensive carriers are so valuable that the USA must be scared of losing one or more of them so they need to focus more on protecting them than on attacking their enemies.

due to US TV drama series, the public were 'brainwashed' thinking lawyers make more "easy money" than engineers and technicians... so many opted not to become engineers and technicians...

It's getting hard to buy stuff NOT Made in China when so many US companies have taken so much care to outsource it right there! Also, if all this said in this episode is true, it's not looking good any way you turn it. Even though Chris made me crack up when he said the ocean's really big and whatever.

Fun fact: The Hit point was invented for wargames by the British. It represented how many 14" shells hits it took to sink or destroy a ship. So to apply that for humans we all get one hit point.

Building up your military isn't warmongering, it's precisely what you need to do to prevent a war happening at all. Si vis pacem, para bellum has always been and will always be true. Also, Chris is 40? Wow, he doesn't look it!
