I just love your humor. I lived in California many years, now I’m in Alabama. Whole other horse world here. While I’ve had horses all my life, I can always learn something new. Now being middle aged, stupidity hurts more. I want the most effective, fight free, training nowadays. The goal is to not get in a wreck and hurt my parts.

Good info, it doesn't matter if its kids, dogs, or horses they have to be taught how to learn. The ability to seek out the right answer based on Yes that's correct or No thats wrong. A horses desire to hunt the release is taught from the start lesson #1 Baby or 10yr nothing can be accomplished or learned with out learning how to Learn first.

That is a really smart colt, especially when he realizes how to get out of his own way. Very nice. I was a kid once and everything was "stupid." "Stupid chickens, stupid cow, stupid horse and on and on..." As a much older guy and a life time complete with a few visits to the ER, I realize the animals weren't stupid, but I was! Amazing how smart a chicken can be if you take the time to watch, learn and apply what you learn to get them to do what you need them to do every single time! 'Course the same goes for horses and cows. Much harder with people though. 😉

I needed help with my training , I have lost a great deal of mobility and and watching Pat reinforces how I am able to work with my geldings, I don’t apply his knowledge of bitting ,but any time I spend with my horse I use more and more of of Pat’s methods (I actually hear him in my head)..I am so glad to have found you all.... I feel like I know something again and I thank you for that ...all of you

Ed Warnock yes, the colt is smart but like Pat said he’s been working with him from the beginning. So the colt is used to Pat’s way of teaching him and there’s a rapport between them. Eventually, they work it out between themselves! People? That’s another story, 😆

@@billmitchell3329 That is exactly my point, I did not mean anything negative towards Pat. What you are saying is true and correct,that being said, that colt has the intelligence and what we call, "try" or a basic desire to please that just is not present in some horses. ( Part of that is the breed which have a reputation to be intelligent but hot blooded horses.) Now certainly Pat has developed that attribute by the work he has done with the colt. I have been around alot of horses, and I can recognize the basic intelligence of a young horse who has the potential to be a great horse. Thet colt has it, no two ways about it. The other side of my comment is this, I wished I had known horsemen and cowmen like Pat those many years ago. I would have had alot more successes,and perhaps a few less trips to the ER.

My gosh I'm sure glad we don't need gymnastics. He has such amazing dapples.... are saying colts as in still in tact or as in young horses as in gelded. I love the breathing skills you teach. It means everything. He is so eager to learn... I'm not good on this silly computer either. Thank you and your wife for teaching us. It's not rocket science. It's just getting it. @@PatnDebPuckett Highlands is about 2 hour north of Melbourne, near a town called Yea. Being in the country we are away from the hard lockdown, doing ok. We have a small farm on 50 acres, gives me more time to play with the horses

Hi Pat. 😁 In one of your videos you mentioned having had a hip replacement. I am curious if you could talk about that experience a little bit. Not necessarily the hip replacement, rather, how your relationship with your horses was affected during your recovery process. In this video you referenced the backing up video which you did seated. Anyway, I guess I’m just curious about how it was for you being around your horses and whether or not they were any different towards/around you. Always learning something new & interesting from you! Glad to hear someone else does not like the "stick". When are you going to have a stick when you are on a ride? A better training method is to teach the horse to respond to your body language. Once the horse learns to respond to your body language, it will respond much better when you are in the saddle.
