Very good marketing ploy ''virtual tracks''; but the whole concept of rail efficiency, is low resistance, round steel-wheels rolling on top of flat steel rail lines...this cannot be duplicated, just because the marketing concept says its cool enough to imagine...the only exception would be if the rail car were magnetically elevated...but, that is not so, in this case.

The fact i keep getting people arguing against this point in my own comments even though my initial comments are over a year or two old
@HenryMex00 Жыл бұрын
But there are cases where the use of tires and not steel wheels is totally justified, such as Mexico City where the soil is significantly weak and trains with steel wheels literally increase subsidence and damage infrastructure. On the other hand, in cities with steep slopes it is much more feasible to use tires because they have greater traction than traditional trams.

You're literally re-inventing the bi-articulated bus, except that you're introducing the logistical and moral issues of a self-driving car. It even looks identical to the Mettis Van Hool. "Virtual tracks" are called a route. If this is meant to be permanent or something, you're better off with light rail. If it's meant to be flexible: use a bus. This niche literally doesn't exist.

A really good solution for middle sized cities that cannot afford a metro line but struggle with low bus capacity on the other hand. If this industry can produce affordable railbuses, I think that it will revolutionize our cities, since trams are static and much more expensive to build.

@DefaultMale_2 жыл бұрын
@@bingo737 No, it can carry the same amount of people as the specific tram they have measured it against, which is rather small. The entire ideology of lightrail and tram transit systems is that the impact from steel-on-steel contact is far less resistant than rubber on tarmac. To put what I said simply, the entire reason trams are an actual benefactor for the enviroment is because when tires hit the road it causes tire wear. Not to mention, these busses are battery operated, and not powered by overhead wires, ect. The carbon footprint used to construct these sort of lithium batteries is normally more impactful than a Deseil BRT overall. Lithium batteries are prone to fires with unknown causes and no warning. Lithium batteries will completely engulf whatever is in it, and they are extremely hard to put out in comparason to a regular fire. Trams use far less power consumtion to move due to the fact that the friction caused from roads is far more than sturdy steel rail. Overall, this project was even embarrassing *for its timeframe,* being a glorified BRT that pretends to be a tram, having the negatives of being a bus, and a (battery powered [see previous paragraph on lithium batteries]) electric bus. Meanwhile, they do not gain any of the actual driving points for installing a lightrail or tram system in to an area.
