I wasnt referring to cultural appropriation. There are no hanfu places in my area. Most of the online stores are in Mandarin (understandable). Sure theres aliexpress, but they dont have best reviews. There are many complaints of paying for things that never come. Also the nicer and high quality hanfu is out of my budget. Those are the reasons I cannot wear it at this time. @@crzer07 no. its because us Han ethnics are envious of the other 55 ethinic groups in China who all have their own tradional clothing. As the Han ethnic group we've adopted the Western style of clothing, and we feel we have lost our cultural identity in a way. In an elementary school textbook there is an illustration of children of the 56 ethnic groups; all the other ethnic groups are wearing their traditional clothing, only the Han child wore plain 'modern western' style clothing. This is why young people are reviving the traditional Han clothing. We want to embrace our lost culture. I as a minority in China can’t be more happy about it. Though I personally prefer the name Huafu. China has been a country with multi races for centuries. It is a good thing for people to celebrate our cultures and traditions, especially now we are at the threshold of re-prosperity. We minorities are treated equally in China unlike black people in America. There is no culture appropriation here because we are one family.Different races can share our outfits and traditions. We are all Chinese. I can wear Hanfu and people from other races can wear my ethnic outfits without offending anyone. I guess western countries won’t be able to understand this.
@mikel46903 жыл бұрын
Chinese nationality in general, including Zang (Tibetan), share various percentages of the same racial genes. So the correct term is "ethnicities", not "races". There were only a few migration routes of early humans populating East Asia.
@hibiscuslin91363 жыл бұрын
@@mikel4690 Thanks for your correction. And that shows how western culture dominates media. They lead people to think every country has serious race issues like them. So they can easily turn people against each other. Luckily we Chinese are smart enough not to fall for that.
@anonymintheworld97813 жыл бұрын
Yes, because China is a farming culture, so the concept of family and mutual help are inherited for thousands of years. In China, people will not treat ethnic minorities as cruelly as in western countries. In fact, in China, it has nothing to do with ethnicities. It is more about cultural identity. As long as you understand Chinese culture, you will be regarded as a member of the family

I really want them to be like Japan, where they still wear their traditional garb in between all the modern clothes and seeing a resurface of these clothes makes me so happy. I’m Chinese myself but not worn any of these and would love to wear them the hanfu one day😌

You can buy it from the website. Ask Chinese people to help you. It’s better than renting. You can bring it back home as a souvenir.

@@HULI_AIXIA Unfortunately, I won’t have much opportunity to wear it again outside China unless I wear it at home as it may not be practical. I just want to see how my wife and I look in Han dresses. Anyway, thanks for the advise.

though they may put a modern spin on the classic style, that classic style can still hold its own. Centuries later and the early style still inspires many. I love the colors, and designs sewn into them.
I am so happy to see this, going back and enjoying the ancient cultures and dresses is a fun experience. Glad the people are bringing it back.

@kky-jd3xj3 жыл бұрын
@@nos8141 Actually Chinese didn't really bow like Japan and Korea, we had more casual ways of greeting like 拱手礼 or more formal like 揖礼, Japanese-style hands at the side bowing is reserved for formal weddings, funerals, temples, and maybe teachers/elders.

As an overseas Chinese, I think it's a good start that the Chinese people of Han ethnicity, including the diasporas, start to realise their own traditional clothing. Many people around the world (including Chinese descendants) think that traditional "Chinese" clothing is those with high Mandarin collars and lotus buttons such as the Cheongsam a.k.a. Qi Pao. However, many fail to realise that they were in fact MANCHURIAN clothing that was imposed on all Han Chinese during the Manchu rule of the last dynasty, the Qing Dynasty. Traditionally, Han Chinese people believe that hair is sacred, as it is a gift from one's parents; hence it was forbidden to cut hair and men had to tie their hair with a high bun - like what you see in Tang/Ming dynasty or even Korean (Joseon) period shows. However, the Manchurian Qing government ordered all Han Chinese men to shave their heads and adorn the Queue hairstyle in obedience to their rule. One of the main reasons, apart from trade, that you can find many Chinese descendants in Southeast Asia was because their forefathers wanted to escape Qing rule. Their male descendants, who were Southeast Asian-born were amongst the first Han Chinese to have their Queue hair cut off during the downfall of the Qing dynasty in the 1900s. With regard to the recent Hoo-ha about Hanfu VS Hanbok, I think many Koreans do not know the existence of Hanfu and many were uploading pictures of Cheongsams and other Manchurian clothing to support their claim that these were the "real Chinese" clothing. I'm pretty sure many young Chinese also have that same misconception. So, I guess, we can't really blame them for their lack of knowledge but be patient to educate our own ethnic group and the public about what Hanfu really is.
