Wow, you guys are so fortunate to have been gifted a Martin D-42. That's the top of the guitar mountain for a lot of people.

Man I wish I came from a family like this. No one in my family plays any instrument but me, so I only started playing guitar at the age of 22. I'm about to be 33 now, and I'm probably realistically at the level that your eldest son was at when he was 9 or so. How did you teach them to pick? What tunes did they learn first? Any tips or suggestions for someone struggling to get good at flatpicking? God bless!

The real thing sounds like a Martin HD-28; the other sounds like its trying to be a Martin .

That copy doesn’t sound bad at all, pretty good but man those real Martins all ring and sound full and bright! God Bless you all in your work for our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ.
