A lot of that stuff was 'built out' in the USA in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Dam releases are not unusual after a heavy rainstorm both to prevent dam failure or uncontrolled overflow and to prepare for future rainstorms if its early in a rainy season. The dams on the Colorado River in the USA are pretty awesome to watch (and hear!) when they do releases. Maintenace is always an ongoing issue, it remains to be seen if China can keep up with it on their dams.

The worst thing is that in the majority of towns and cities, the drainage infrastructure is so bad that even some heavy rain can cause insane floods. But with opening the dams like this, there was an example of a tunnel that was 4km and 6 lanes, that flooded in about 5-10 mins. people futher away from each end stood no chance, even if they tried to escape. Another example was that a dam was opened at night without warning to lower the water below the overflow limit, many drowned in the underground trains (they were not warned or anything), and many drowned while livestreaming. horrifying. The fact that these were manualy triggered shows how terribly their infrastructure is setup, making it far more deadly than most countries for this.

The 3 George's dam is so vast it has created it's own weather región which is constantly creating rainfall. In the rain season the stored water in the dam evaporates and falls back as rain around and into the resevoir, and ADDS TO THE SEASONAL RAINFALL of the area. That breeds flooding.

So they made the dam to create communities closer to the ocean? And when the dam fills with water (from ocean/rain) it has to be released somewhere but where do they release it? Into a big body of water or dry land??? 🤔

I wondered if something that massive, and I believe there exist much bigger dam, If they discharge that amount of water, will it change earth rotational speed or not.
