i like these two hosts. constructive crit, i would say zoom out a little on the closeups. it's a little unsettling to see someone's face zoomed in that much, on larger monitors. otherwise the pacing is excellent in this video.

It’s so true, when I was in Xi’an paying a visit to my friend’s grandparents, I was offered a few shots of Baijiu, my friend was against me drinking 😅, but I still gladly accepted. It was around 60%, and it tasted great. His grandfather explained to me, that 2 shots are too little, 4 are too much, so 3 is the ideal number apparently 😃😂

Firstly, great lesson! It's wonderful learning the language in combination with the culture, as it allows for more natural immersion - so thank you. Secondly, in China and Chinese culture, would it be considered inappropriate to refuse to drink or be a teetotaller? And by extension, how does this translate into scenarios which call for politely turning down drinks?

Learned so much In this lesson! I was wondering if zanmen is only used in Hong Kong since the pod cast originates from there. Also if you could say the Chinese one more time after you say English the would be helpful. I feel like I was just about to get it then you moved in to the next phrase. Thanx again an informative lesson!

i like the pace of the lesson and the hosts, but since this i an intermediate lesson a lot of comments would have been in chinese. Actually they onli read a pharse and all the rest is in english. The structure of the dialogues could be an intermediate level but if everything else is explained in english ... i dont know, it does not seems an intermediate level anymore.
@ChinesePodTV5 жыл бұрын
Hey Nadia, thanks for sharing your opinion on this. Perhaps you could try an upper intermediate level lesson instead? We have a set rubric that we follow for each video with percentages of English vs Chinese being spoken.

Like a few others have pointed out, the dialogue is very scripted. I think it would be better if it sounded more natural, but overall, still a good job. In Korea, it can be considered a huge insult to refuse a drink from a person (senior) while you are at a restaurant. This has always been a concern of mine since I don't drink alcohol. How is it like in Chinese culture? Is it also considered very insulting to refuse a drink from someone who offers you one?
@dksoulstice60404 жыл бұрын
@Rebecca from ChinesePod Team Thank you for the response! I will be sure to remember that saying. I sure wish there was a Korean equivalent I knew whenever I am offered soju lol.

I'm sorry, but this is painful to listen to. The way you're speaking is so unnatural, and I think a few of the example dialogues you used had the wrong characters.
