There are a lot of linden trees in Düsseldorf, and they bloom in June/Juli. Especially in the evening or at night the fragrance is very nice.

Hello from Northern Germany! Thanks for the video. I had to laugh when you noticed the "many cyclists" in Düsseldorf. I'm older. And I remember the pictures from China, with the thousands of cyclists in blue jackets on their way to work. - Yes, the world has changed. 😁

@@hubertcheungchnIt is not somehow trending this had been an ongoing trend since the 90ies of the last century. Riding a bike in the City is often very smart, because going by bike is even faster than using the modern public transport system. People in Germany love their bikes. I have a friend, who hast three different bikes, he uses them depending on what he is going to do. If he wants to do sportive exercise he uses his race bike. When he is doing chores he is using his "city" bike and when he has free time with his family he uses his "mountain" bike. I was made aware, that for people in southeastern countries riding a bike symbolizes "when we were not wealthy enough to use a car" this is a rather negative take on using a bike. In Europe bike riding is chic, trendy, environmentally concious, smart and helps to stay fit. By no means people, who ride bikes are seen as "not wealthy enough". A good bike in Europe starts with a price around 900,- Euros and can easily cost several thousand Euros, some people are even willing to pay 20.000,- Euros or more for special custom made bicycles.

About the perfume. Alot people use perfume when they go to places like the city in Düsseldorf. Düsseldorf is especiallly know for dressing up and be in the streets to be seen (and also be smelled). Most people there wouldnt even realize the perfumes. Its a cultural difference.

A german business man had a clever idea. He was in PR China, to order chinese products for german and european market. (printer cartridges and computer parts) He found and married a chinese woman. Then his wife negotiate and orders the products directly at the factories in China. Also to get lower prices. Because she can speak chinese. He sells it to mostly expensive prices. But tells Everyone how cheap would it be. And makes a lot of money. With over three million customers or more. Most people here cannot imagine, how cheap chinese products from their factories.

The Chinese government could have at least helped investigate the origin of the virus and how it jumped to humans. Instead, they have prevented all WHO investigations to date and China also does not share any findings with other countries. This is typical Chinese policy and continues to put the country in a bad position. Do you know that the first doctor who reported the virus and made it public was killed? The government apparently already had knowledge of the virus and took revenge on the doctor because a cover-up was no longer possible.

@@hubertcheungchn tbh, German (Better EU) food is more bland than in other countries. That's because the usage of local spice and because Germans don't like additives. When you are in a supermarket just have a look at the ingredients. There are very few chemicals or artificial flavor enhancer. First time i was in the US i was shocked how American peas taste compare to German ones. Also: In restaurants and hotels the food is even more bland. There should be pepper and salt (sometimes other spices, too) on the table. I humbly have to disagree, Berlin has much more history than Düsseldorf. History is not about picturesque old buildings, but events that took place. Berlin has artefacts from imperial Germany, the Weimar Republic, the Nazi era, world war 2, the cold war including of course the division of the entire city, and reunification. Some of these artefacts from different eras of German history are quite close, for example there is a place where you can see Prussian architecture,, the remnants of 1920s street fightings, the place where Hitler died in his bunker, the place of uprisings against the east German regime, artefacts of the Berlin Wall, and the heart of modern Berlin. No place in Germany has anything like that.

(Mainland) Chinese food is known to be literally contaminated. No joke, look up 地沟油 or general disregard for minimally polluted fields and produce over sheer profit for the producers (this includes some rather expensive restaurants/merchants too as the checks are laxe/bribable). Literally just search for 'food' on the channel "China Insights" and you'll wanna vomit your intestines out. Even when it's good quality, it's heartly generally low in fat or rich in natural taste (maybe artificial if anything). Traditional Chinese cuisine maybe, but you tell me which part of overly ethnic 'China' (not implying Taiwan is currently btw.) is mostly traditional? Furthermore there's tons of really good and healthy German food which is just not served in cheap takeaway-style restaurants which it seems Hubert Cheung is referring to when he mentions 'Korean' (it's often mostly that here). There's a rich palette of fresh (even organic) produce that good German restaurants will serve alongside the more hearty stuff. Also this is mainly due to the fact that vegetarianism let alone veganism is a pretty new phenomenon in Germany (took off in the late 2000's and really in the years imo).

In Germany there are and in the last decades often have been major problems with meat. Does that mean that all of the food is rubbish? No. And by the way, that was totally not my point.

@@sbrgm Ehm, I meant a KZbin channel (you should know that if you can/could read) not a potentially unaffiliated website. I don't think you can 'contaminate' anything on KZbin other than posting links (you should never click on any unknown external unless there's a good reason). Also, don't you think it's a bit rich to call any dissenting voice against the "China #1" literal state propaganda narrative likewise? Furthermore, did you just compare 'Gammelfleisch'-Kebap and Wilke Waldecker to even a small fraction of Chinese food safety? You should know that censorship and intimidation sweeps anything but the worst under the rug. Like your child(ren) having painful kidney stones among other nasties? - just buy and give them local milk powder, lmao. Even Chinese mainlanders know their formula among other foodstuffs is rock-bottom safe so they 'plunder' Australian, American, European, etc. groceries and resell their wares at home. This is literally not a secret, nor deniable. TLDR: Germany's worst food safety skandals pale compared to Chinese lightest ones. China's heavily censored, while there's no country with around quarter or more people than Germany having better freedom of press (despite unlike China not being among the most populous countries).

@@whohan779 No, also KZbin channels often are contaminated, because those minds are contaminated. The press censorship definitely exists in Western media, and the propaganda too. But it runs on total different levels than in China. Take for instance the case of the pipeline demolition NordStream. The whole world knows that it was the USA, for they benefit from it, they've been viewed being around in the right time doing some "military exercises", they announced in February (Joe Biden doubled down on it), and the CIA warned Germany that this could happen. Even reporters / KZbin channels of USA speak openly about it. But what do the media in Germany? Claim that it was Russia, being so dumb as to destroy their only instrument of pressure. And all main stream media immediately agreed on the "fact" that it was Russia. That's how it works in Germany: the people and the journalists believe it. Because they all perceive what they have been told over and over again, like in the book 1984: a lie is so often told that it becomes truth. And so they confirm each other their believes. When I lived in China (2012-2014), I saw people openly speak out against the government without any consequences. I saw people on the streets openly evangelizing others. I ate almost every night street food (for 3 years), street barbecue with the alleged "contaminated oil". And never got any problems with my stomach or anything. A free press has nothing to do with press which is dedicated to truth, neither has a controlled press.

@@sbrgm If you actually watched any non-boulevard news, you'd know that Germany is actually split on who destroyed Nord Stream. We haven't even ruled out it not having being a superpower (Norway, Denmark, Poland, etc. come to mind) and you allege that our conclusion is clear, smh. You compare Germany to 1984 - fine, do that. But do it as well with China based on true facts and you'll hopefully see who's the much better fit. "I lived in China (2012-2014)" - and that's why it's not very relevant. Many 'famous' personalities say those were among the last years where China was still enjoyable for regular non-tankie bootlicking foreigners. China's prime time much like Russia's was the late 2000's (2006-2009). You cannot even travel to China now as a foreigner, unless you have serious exemptions and can endure rampant discrimination, see 5:57. If you really expect China to be as free as a literal decade ago now, you're in for a rude awakening. Also, I don't see how "[seeing] people openly speak out against the government without any consequences" would be relevant unless they promoted Falun Gong or religious extremism. Basic freedom of religion is still decent in most of China, even though some would call it 'poor'. Likewise "[you] eating almost every night street food (for 3 years), street barbecue with the alleged "contaminated oil" and never [getting] any problems with [your] stomach or anything" proves nothing as the food in question is mostly slow poison which will accumulate over time and rear its ugly head later in life. You weren't visiting the 'right' restaurants for long enough to judge.

Some notes for you: the "perfume in the air" is just normal western european body hygiene. Shocking! And the hotel in Düsseldorf was clean?! Really? There was also carpet layed out, you had hot running water and it was free of cockroaches I assume? Surely it had something to do with the fact that the hotel is owned by Hilton and not because you visited a civilzed part of the world...favorite brand McDonalds...yeah ok. Hearing people like you talk is funny, I really dig that arrogance/naivety combo! You're unintentionally telling us more about you and the place you're from than you might think. Funny!

I also stayed in an economic hotel later in Berlin, and it was also quite clean. Overall I think the hygiene level in Germany is rather high, compared to countries that I have been to. And I'm not a picky eater, which is why convenient foods like McDonald's that could save my time and budget are always my go-to meal, even in China.
