When I went to the IMO, I scored 37 points, getting a perfect score on the first day, and a total percentile score of 97%, the highest ever in the Netherlands. Easily made the mark for a gold medal. So, would I have made it in the Chinese team? No! The entire Chinese team got perfect scores on both days, totalling at 42 points each. Ten people in the world got a perfect score, six of them were Chinese. If the competition was China v.s. the rest of the world, China would have won. Crazy to think about.

@@Hatdog-ee9iw I first learned about the IMO from my math book, and my school had the official Dutch guide with strategies and problems. @@felipemaldonado21 Because there are too many students studying olympiad every year, but they just need six. besides, the better you performed, the better university you can go in (without needing to do more exams like SAT in USA which in China is Gaokao). Because colleges in India regard Olympiads as a non entity. You wasted your time on Olympiads? Too bad bro you can't get admission here. Businesses are too busy hoodwinking people for entrance exams. And mathematics doesn't pay much, so that also makes the Olympiad seem like a waste of time.
@magisterialanubis064 ай бұрын
because the math of the imo isn't useful for the entrances to colleges. Unlike China, where doing well in olympiads guarantees admission to the best colleges, the same isnt true in India. On the other hand, India does quite well in the physics olympiad since the syllabus for the entrances is the same. Also, the Chinese are harder working i guess
