They don't have this kind of budget. It's just the current political situation. Even in Taiwan's constitution, they affirm their legitimacy to rule over mainland China. The country is officially named 'Republic of China', while mainland China is 'People's Republic of China'. The civil war is just on pause, until one absorbs the other or Taiwan renounces their legitimacy over China, and their title of 'Republic of China', thus establishing officially a new political entity.

@@aria_cypher Please have some reading comprehension. The Chinese government forces you to talk good towards their country, saying nothing = saying bad stuff. If he wants to return to china eventually he'll have to face the consequences. They will literally "recall" you to face consequences. This is not a lie or misinformation, this is fact. These students are selected to go study abroad, its not just random people saying "I wanna go study abroad" like how the rest of the world is. These very few privileged Chinese citizens who have the opportunity to do this only have it because their government allows them. You know nothing. You have to understand ALL of the Chinese people are oppressed, they cannot publicly voice their opinion or speak out if they do they're ostracized from society, jailed or worse.

Taiwan’s passport says “Republic of China - Taiwan” Taiwan is a province, proper. It’s colloquially called “Taiwan” but also used by separatists to emphasize a split with the original government formed in Mainland China. AFAIK, their own constitution still considers Taiwan to be a province of broader China.

@@blackhole9961 Taiwan is a region under the republic of China. However, it is not recognized by the UN. UN recognizes only one China which the PRC. North Korea and South Korea are recognized as two separate countries by the UN.
