Linking Little Red Book to Mao Zedong is the funniest thing I've ever heard, red is the favorite color of the Chinese, it has been around since ancient times, it has nothing to do with communism, and when Little Red Book first started, the main content was a bunch of rich women sharing shopping experiences, or travel experiences, and later developed into China's second largest social media
I would sooner give my full credit report and SSN directly to the CCP than ever use instagram reels.

Perhaps some people don't understand the whole picture. Right now, China govt is preparing for war to invade Taiwan and then will expand to control all important resources of whole world.. As you can see the Russia, they can manage to keep sending people to the war fields and also keep privileged people live in normal or even luxurious life. So China govt is thinking if they can do the same. If American people keep trading with China and let them earn more money, they will have more confidence and determination to do that.

@ I don’t see how it’s more dangerous than any domestic app or app from anywhere that isn’t China that collects our data and uses it to sell things to us or to direct their algorithm to feed us for engagement. The freak-out over TikTok is Yellow Scare nonsense. And it *is* a matter of free speech because Americans are using it to, you know, speak freely, and in some cases earn a living or at the very least, have a side hustle. You look at Meta and even Google not lifting a finger to help because all they see is one less competitor, but if this ban goes through, the precedent could be used to ban any app and silence their users. I’m sorry, but claiming “spies” in a place where we all give away our information freely is not a justifiable reason to ban an entire platform or force it to be sold.
