IMO The world is already extremely crazy, and things like Tiktok just make people act even more weird and think more superficially. It helps people to care more about their vanity and get addicted, like a mental drug. Compare to physical weapons which can only harm people when there is a war, mental ones can harm the future generations continually without even being noticed for so much longer time.

Living in Canada I had a very different idea of China. After doing research and seeing how different the culture is, and how much emphasis the Chinese focus on Work Family and Education I’m realizing how much I hate western society.
@Plan9wood Жыл бұрын
Take it easy on that, now I can’t speak for China but I can speak about Vietnam and it’s people from direct experience. If you want to dismiss my comment because it is about Vietnam and not China then go ahead. I was involved with and married into a Vietnamese family and have observed them in both Vietnam and in America. Work, In America- very true. They work very hard and very long hours to have nice homes and expensive symbols of status. In Vietnam- not so much because no matter how hard or not hard you work you really only make enough have the basic things needed in life. Education: America- Vietnamese parents push their children very hard to become educated so that they can grow up to make more money than they could and to make money to take care of their parents when they are old. After 18 years of raising a child it is felt that the children are now responsible to pay the parents back. In Vietnam- education is still very important however outside of being accepted into the Communist party it is very hard to become much more successful than your parents were. Family - In Vietnam- being with your family is important, and you spend most of your time with them. More than you do with friends and more than you do working. In fact eating and getting drunk (and I do mean drunk) with your family multiple times a day is more important than work, school, or friends. However thinking that family means functional, harmonious relationships is wrong. From my experience it was drunken disorder, infighting, jealousy, and drama. Most of the honoring family bit is more so a facade of respect, and a requirement than it is out of love and actual respect. In America- twice as bad. Cheating on spouses Is the norm. In Vietnam the men mainly do it because the wife has nowhere els to go and has no choice. However in America the women will do it. Cheat, lie about money, and live the life they want without any regard for the family they helped create. However you react is fine. Most people are angry on the internet. Maybe you don’t like what I say but it comes from the experience of over 10 years of involvement with Vietnamese people both here and in Vietnam. Just trying to warn you to not fall for the whole that culture is better and ours is the worst.

Tiktok is run by big data. No one else can control which is shown and which is not. I always see Chinese tiktoks on my phone in the US. I think it's probably due to how much time you stay on certain topic and big data will send you more similar stuff.
