Chinese wet market= Wild animal market?

What is Chinese wet market like? Bats, snakes, cats, dogs and various wild animals are selling inside?
Since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, the world has increasingly questioned Chinese wet market, but are Chinese wet markets really selling wild animals? What can Chinese people buy at the wet markets?
For me, a Chinese, i never heard about wet market until this time, for us, we call it food market, because we buy food inside, vegetables, meat, rice, noodles etc.
