Honestly I don't know why there is a lot of hate in these comments. Just looking at the videos and the fact that you rarely see another black person shows that it's not common. The stares may be overwhelming but people are just surprised. I live in Nigeria(Africa) 😂 people still stare when they see someone white or Asian. You may argue that don't they see them on TV. Trust me it's not the same thing as actually see the person. I still stare whenever I see someone white or Asian because I'm amazed by their hair. Like how is it so long and shiny 😂😂😂. About the hair touching thing I just see them as people who are not shy, trust me if I had a foreign friend I'm definitely asking for permission to touch their hair because I'm curious about the difference. 😂😂😂 I definitely don't have the courage to walk up to a random stranger and ask for that. And honestly it's mostly the older generation you see do these things they are not as familiar with current trends like the younger generation.
@kayflip22332 жыл бұрын
Exactly, I'm Asian American and have travelled all over Africa in rural areas and people all stared at me and laughed or smiled. African Americans think Black people are exempt from being shocked by seeing another race but that's just because America is a diverse country and to them it's no big deal to see an Asian person but in Africa, where it is homogenous just like in China, of course they are going to be shocked to see other races. Glad you pointed this out as a Nigerian because African Americans can't understand this concept at all.

It's because you're different. My wife and I are UK pensioners and, prior to covid, toured China several times independently. We were constantly stared at, had sneaky photographs taken, had countless people ask to have their photographs taken with us, people try and practice their English with us or simply say 'hi' in passing. Walking along the path in Orange Island, Changsha (where the statue of a Young Chairman Mao is) we had hundreds of visiting schoolchildren shouting 'Hi' and giggling as they walked past. And guess what? - it didn't bother us in the slightest. We made time to talk when when people tried talking to us. 3 sweet little schoolgirls in Guilin politely asked if they could practice their English talking to us - we obviously obliged. This happened outside of China as well, especially in Hanoi. Sometimes, a group, often extended family, would want to have a picture with us - not just one pic but individually, pairs, groups etc. People watching would often ask if they could have theirs taken with us as well. We've been as long as 20 mins before we could get away. We used to laugh to ourselves that in the UK, people just stare through us but in China, we were like the Beckhams. I'm not a vlogger as such, but have put several short clips of some of the places we have visited on my channel, in case anyone thinks we are making it up. One video is titled ' Ann and Echo on the beach' We met Echo three years ago, when she was working as a waitress in Guangzhou during her Spring break from college. She tried practicing her English on us. It was terrible lol. She did explain that she was desperate to learn English but didn't know any 'foreigners' she could practice with. I offered to help her via WeChat and she jumped at the chance. I didn't really expect to be teaching her for long but three years later, we are still talking. We did meet up in Nanning just before Covid - where she lived - and went down to Beihai for a few days. Hence the video of her and my wife on the beach. I just wish we could go back to China but failing health has put a stop to that. Fantastic country.

Same thing happens to Chinese people when they visit Africa. It's nothing unique to Chinese people. It's human nature. That’s because they don’t know it’s not polite to stare! But… never mind! I’d love to visit for a day or two! China is a beautiful place from what I’ve seen on videos

I really like you vlog of you travelling China. I like you vlog because it is real and as it is of what is really happening in China rather than modified to fit anti-China agenda like most Western media do.

Lol all I saw was two friends enjoying a fun amusement park experience with friendly and genuine locals having a fun day as well and occasionally the video pointed out the same guy looking towards the camera. I didn't realize what the title was about until started reading the comments. Staring is expected in China or anywhere else in the world that is that homogenous with few foreigners, if there were many foreigners living around like some international cities in China, then the locals wouldn't even bother to look at you...unless you are good looking to them hehehe.
@bunny13192 жыл бұрын
For a start they probably aren’t taking photos of you and if they are your literally recording them for a start they probably just think you guys are influencers since your pretty and blogging and to say it’s because ur black everyone’s looking at you like hello if someone was standing recording themselves never mind talking like they are an influencer everyone would be looking at them here in U.K. too no matter what colour they are. The amount of times you recored people like a couple people tripping and kids and stuff I just watched a video of a black person seeing a white an for the first time and they were running away saying “it’s going to eat me and thought he was a ghost and didn’t want to touch him looked repulsed but nobody’s thinking that kids a racist because it’s obvious it’s just new to him and that’s nothing compared to getting looked at when your a pretty girl shouting with a phone or camera be self aware.

Africans understand their curiosity.In remote places in Africa people behave the same way.They have never seen Chinese people before and they will stop and stare. It's all good...we have a lot of cultural similarities and generally get on well without the racism we get from many westerners.

That’s so disgusting to me. I wouldn’t stand it! People staring at me like i’m some kind of freak. Props to you tho enjoy your travels!!
@kayflip22332 жыл бұрын
Same thing happens in Africa for Chinese people. Why do you think Black people are exempt from behaving the same way? It's because you're American and your used to diversity whereas rural Africans and Asians aren't so they are just curious.
@yupyup49252 жыл бұрын
@@kayflip2233 Africans do not stare to this extent, Africans will not record a Chinese stranger because obviously we know Chinese people exist. Chinese people treat black people like we are otherworldly and it’s ironic because China is exploiting Nigeria and other African countries for resources LOL

Do you not feel it to be a natural response for others to look at the person who is holding a cell phone and video taping them? You yourself did not want anyone to take your photo nor video tape you, why is the relationship one-sided?

as a chinese person, the title humiliates me, and generalises us 😕😕 now everyone’s gonna think all chinese people are monsters from the title
@josephinebournes82122 жыл бұрын
My most racist experiences in America have come from Chinese people. I even lived with 2 Chinese brothers in London and one of them said he couldn't be seen with me in public because I'm black. So based on my experiences, I feel comfortable generalizing Chinese people as anti-black racists.
@dasren2 жыл бұрын
@@josephinebournes8212 Thats understandable but not exactly morally right, and I relate. See ive had tons of racist experiences from white people that have totally ruined my self esteem at some point or another, but now i really just try to see people not for their race, but for their individual persona as it seems unfair to place that assumption of every single person on the caucasian race even if they’re actually nice and empathetic. Same for any race, i mightve had the general assumption that maybe black ppl dont like me cause of my race so ive been hesitant to reach out sometimes. but Your race doesnt bind you to a certain behaviour although in many cases it does seem like it. I apologize for the actions of those people who have discriminated against you for your race, but idk i just want to assure you that we’re not all like that and if you’re willing, try keep an open mind for any new people in your life
