Oh, do you not play basketball? When you block your taught to try to block the ball towards a teammate and not out of bounds. Out of bounds, however exciting for the crowd, stops the game and still gives them possession. While a block to a teammate gives you possession and a chance for easy basket like they had. I think your taking an L cause you don't know how to block shots, which mean we gonna get a lot of breaks.
