Chino Moreno (Deftones) on "Diamond Eyes" and "Eros"

Archive #16 goes back to 2010 when Deftones made their best record in a little while with "Diamond Eyes" after experiencing some troubled times.
This record kinda gave them a second life (to me anyway).
Had singer Chino Moreno on the phone to talk about the lack of communication the band faced on the previous record "Saturday Night Wrist" and how the band regrouped after Chi's terrible accident (he was still alive at the time of this interview, R.I.P Chi).
As Chino is a very talkative guy, we went deep into "Diamond Eyes" and discussed the "Eros" record as well (yet to be released to this day, it is Chi's final recording). Talked about producers Nick Raskulinecz and Terry Date, how Chino chose to focus on singing for this record and let Stephen Carpenter in charge of the guitar parts, writing again as a band unit and how Frank Delgado stepped up to the plate.

If/When they release The Eros sessions as a fully fledged &Mixed LP, It will have the potential to be one of there BEST albums to date. Smile, Brief Exchange & Lovers Are Amazing songs

Love to hear it from the horses mouth. I really want to hear a proper version of Eros. As much as I love deftones post chi the original line up still holds a special place to me
