Erisco PR could have done what wiser companies do, comment under the comment and ask her to send a private message so as to get more information. They can say they are sure of there products but are aware that there may be fakes. Then go on to say that they are committed to best practices. The matter could have died down. But that is a missed opportunity. Going forward, I think Erisco should drop the matter and call Chioma to his factory and settle amicably, out of court (alternate dispute resolution). If erisco continues down this path, he will damage his brand irreparably. Erisco has much more to lose than to gain. I also call on those that have the ears of Erisco to advise him properly.

How did you come to the conclusion that his actions are unjust. International News cannot determine who is right or wrong. It's only a court of competent jurisdiction that can determine that and the case is already in court. Erisco and the online sympathisers are running ahead of themselves. The court may discharge and acquit her or convict her. We have to wait for the outcome before definite statements are made.

In a developed country, ERISCO will be losing money to the reviewer & made to pay the legal fees for infringing on her Freedom of Speech & rights as a consumer of a product not to talk about the money he will pay for damaging her mental health. Erisco suffered a lot under Emefiele's CBN governorship. He was denied forex to import raw materials and treated very badly by Buhari's government. His response can be likened to what happens when you maltreat people and something snaps. He says he was damaged by her social media posts and his lines of credit were withdrawn. As a business owner, I feel his pain. But he should temper justice with mercy.

It’s not bullying, her comments or review on that product was very harsh she responded to someone who tried to correct her to go tell the manufacturer of the product to stop killing people with the product. And I think that’s what she’s been charged for, she’s asked to bring evidence for how many people it has killed. At first, as a business owner, you'll feel disappointed, but then, if you have a genuine business mindset and the passion for what you do, you don't take things personal. The questions I asked myself were, " What value did they get from my product in exchange for their money?, Where they truly unsatisfied if not yes what can I do to improve? What positive words will I want my customers to say about my products? , Are my products lacking what they really said its lacking? Can we fix it as a team involving my customers? It's what helps the business to grow. No big company in this world has ever made it without customer review or criticism. There are companies that pay professional critics to review their products every 2 to 3 years. And it helps them expand and get more customers. The thing is, if you are doing it for only the money, you will lose everything buy if you are concerned about people whom you are selling your products or offering your services, it shows on your product. Everything done in love and kindness always finds a way back to you. ❤

It’s usual the norm of our society- we take our frustrations out on the weak! Erisco has issues that was frustrating the company and along came Chioma’s post… a scapegoat to let it out on. The company could have apologized, promised to look at the production batches of the tomato paste she bought and even even send her some replacement packs ( I have had Nestle Milo in Nigeria do this for me personally, the replacement was even the same with original one BUT the gesture made me remain loyal to the brand). Customers are always right, “you can’t fight dirt with dirt and expect to remain clean” What you and your company have done and is still doing is achieve exactly what you were trying to avoid… no sensible customer who is aware of how you treated Chioma will be buying your brand, Chioma = Customers, Customers =Chioma!

The police have already arrested her twice, harassed her at home, taken her phone, not allowing her to leave, all against a court ordered restraining order against police arresting her without a specific warrant. They flew her to a different city and also jailed her overnight in a standing only jail cell while she is pregnant. Meanwhile, her 3 kids are alone. She's looking at something like 3m in damages, several years imprisonment for 1 crime, 7years for another crime. I don't think she will be fine for a long time.

I have watched the man's side of the story and seen the post Chioma made on FB, and I can say that Chioma made the mistake of not understanding the product she bought. She wanted to buy tomato PASTE and ended up buying tomato MIX! A mix can contain other ingredients. Just like fruit DRINK is different from fruit JUICE. If she understood the difference, we won't be here. Let everyone learn to read product descriptions before buying. Now, for me, my concern is why the police acted how they did and why she had to sleep in detention overnight over a CIVIL MATTER?! A case of defamation is civil and shouldn't cause all this noise. Sue her; no need for police intimidation. We truly are a lawless country! Chioma made a mistake that could've been settled easily. Erisco is right for crying foul against Chioma's post, and Chioma is right for crying foul against the approach of Erisco and the Nigerian Police. So maybe she will pay damages and then sue the police and Erisco for whatever her lawyers tell her was done wrong to her. Finally, I think that it's wrong that a customers comment can land her in jail. It means that we can't critique products. Coke Zero, Diet Coke, oil free, etc products won't exist if Nigeria manufacturers were allowed to have their way.
