One of the best car stories I've ever heard..... A women and her daughter were at a local Wal-mart and couldn't get their mid 70's Ford truck started while her husband who was in the Navy was out to sea, a random guy walks up to them and offers to look at it, and when he couldn't get it started he says he knows a guy who will look at it and can fix it on the cheap, calls a tow truck to come get the truck and gives them a ride home. The next day drops off a car they can use while the mechanic is looking at it so she can take the daughter to school and do her running that she needed to do and said he talked to the mechanic and the truck could be fixed but it take a couple weeks to fix it, When they woman and her daughter showed up at the shop there was a brand new engine sitting in the truck and the transmission had been rebuilt. The "random guy" walks out of the shop office and it's shop and it's Chip Foose, and when he hands her the bill it just says "Paid for by your husbands service to this country".

Many years ago, I went to a car show with my best friend and his younger brother Kyle (who had some mental development issues) to see the cars and meet Chip Foose. When we got to the front of the line, Kyle rushed forward with a car drawing he had wanted to show Chip. Instead of just doing a simple autograph and brushing us off, he critiqued the drawing and redrew it (he had a sketchbook under the table), explaining his design choices and techniques. Almost an hour later (people were crowding around us to watch Chip in action), Kyle was in tears when Chip gave him his sketches. It was a great moment that I'll never forget. When Kyle passed away, his brother tucked Chip's drawings into casket at the funeral. Chip is a kind and caring man, never letting his success go to his head.

He just replied Beige as a medium, got it back 2 weeks later but nobody could tell if there was any extra damage as it was shithouse before being pinched.😂 Lasted another year or so… best $50 (Australian ) he ever spent he said.😂😂 So they DO! The fact that Chip brings up his father first, talks so much about him, then brings himself up last and talks not that much about himself shows the character of who he is! What makes this man one of the greatest car designers of all time, he had to and still does try to exceed what his father would approve of. Chip is one of a kind. Not only is he beyond talented, he so gracious with his time. He never says no to people that come up to him. That said, I was fortunate in 2006 to go to SEMA with my best friend. Long story short, we went to the show about 8 on Wednesday night,and hung out while they built the Challenger that year. Due to us being childish, we got to meet the whole build crew,and ended up with some cool swag. One piece was the " Overhaulin " wrench that was water jetted to made a dual quad linkage on a Corvette. My Sister now has it all, in a framed picture that Chip drew the following day. Just the way Chip,and the crew treated us was how he's been for decades. Sorry for the long reply, this was an awesome interview.

Frustrating to hear an interviewer who has done very little research and doesn't even listen to what his guest is saying😔 How could he interview Chip Foose, and have no clues about Overhaulin😅

Believe it or not the U.S. is not the center of the universe. It's painfully obvious many Americans don't have a clue what happens around the world, so why is it so unreasonable that someone from the United Kingdom wouldn't know all that much about an American broadcast that is 12 years old?
@AFTER_MIDNITE2 ай бұрын
@@wihamaki Believe it or not, it’s unsurprising that viewers expected Ben to know more about Chip, especially since at 35:28 Ben claimed to do a lot of research before the interview, which we now know was untrue because Ben pinned his comment stating he had less than one hour to prepare for the interview. It begs the question, why did Ben lie instead of just being honest with Chip? PS: Cool it with the xenophobia. We all know criticizing Americans is a favorite British pastime, but it’s the 21st century already, prejudice is so primitive. PPS: Ben replied to another comment indicating he only had 20 minutes to prepare. Again, why act like he knew anything about Chip since he didn’t, rather than just being upfront?! It was quite disrespectful to Chip.

In the second or third season of overhaulin, I attended an automotive show in Toronto. I was surprised to see that Chip Foose was signing autographs, so my buddy and I got into line. What was so unique about the experience is that Chip spent 10 to 15 minutes with each person in line to do a customized drawing with a silver tipped permanent marker on his T-shirts. So while he was chatting to you and genuinely asking about you, he was also drawing a car or a truck design. That was amazing and totally personal to your T-shirt. What a humble guy and a great experience. I’ve never had that experience with any other celebrity.

When Foose did Overhauling, what started out as a good thing and was a great show. Towards the end, it turned into a freak show. The cars became so valuable, the owners couldn't afford to keep them. Or they were so modified they couldn't drive them. An issue of becoming famous.

Chip Foose, the name that brings many thoughts of quality work, builds, power and beauty! From the first episode of Overhaulin' I ever watched, I was hooked and never missed an episode of serious builds with all the fun of jokes, shenanigans and mischievous activities! The builds got done and we're immaculately beautiful! I connected with Chip and his father. Sorry to hear of his passing. When Chip laughed, I laughed, when he became emotional, choked up and shed tears, I became emotional, choked up and shed tears too! Chip knows what he wants, knows what he's doing and is such a nice, thoughtful and caring guy. I would love to have the chance to meet him, shake his hand and chat with him sometime, if I am blessed enough to do so! I'd travel down to California from my home in Oregon anytime!!

I know Jesse is talented but Monster Garage was such a dumpster fire of a show. The projects were so stupid I couldn't stand watching the show, it seemed like a program for the lowest of the low IQ viewers.

I have always appreciated Chip's work. I realistically know that I could never afford his work, but have always appreciated it. I LOVE his renderings before a build immensely! His wheels spin a little differently than the average man's! Keep up the great work, Foose!! I enjoyed the interview!

Chip Foose has lived the life I wanted back in 67, But It was not to be. I did good work but not cars. I would dearly enjoy a cup of coffee and long chat with Chip about cars and the future of Hot Rods. I know there needs to be a transition to some thing much more affordable and practical. But i can see a way to merge all the needs in to a DIY Kit based custom business. But at 75 I can't work the hours needed to hatch such an idea. So glad you had Him on and thank you for a professional approach to handling one of America's most loved treasured. Chip is simply amazing in everyway. Thank You for a great interview. Glad to know that I'm not alone in this moment! I've idolized this man Chip for as long as I can remember! Like building AMT models like he mentions! I've dreamt of a life building like he did, starting of with a box of tools and then creating magic with metal. Great to hear from Chip again! Haven't heard from him since overhaulin in the late 90's I think. I share his dream, haven't been able to achieve that but thanks to those like Chip Foose, Boyd Coddington, Rat Fink, George Barris, VonDutch, so many before but Chip is my generation. If I could I would thank Chip for sharing his dreams with the world! And me.

He also knew it was a time sensitive sit down but he still gave you all he could about himself and his projects. Fun fact. My wife contacted Overhaulin without me knowing and got my 84 VW gti accepted and was in the final stages of the process before they swipe the car to have a someone of the production team to pull it because non muscle cars didn’t bring in the numbers they needed.

Chip, you made my dreams come true in every episode of Overhaulin'. That show showed me an inspired leader who re-introduced people to their dreams. A leader who worked with a gifted team to create a perfect representation of what a vehicle could be. I cried with the owners when you and your team made that dream come true. I felt good about human beings when watching your show. Thank you:)
