What a fantastic apartment. Definitely a luxury apartment. Love everything they did here. Really beautiful and can't believe this sweet young lady got all that for $90,000. It is a complete gut and redo of 1200 sq. feet! That would be a kitchen and a bathroom in Massachusetts.

The windows were the right height before Joanna had the ceiling removed. She knew that it was a mistake and hoped her fix to distract the eye would work. It had to be jettisoned when she realised it would be going away from the industrial vibe she had envisioned. Interior designers are not architects and the changes they make are often wrong.

It was interesting to see what the Gaines did with a modern space as opposed to the family homes in the 'burbs, but Joanna made a BIG mistake when she raised the ceiling height based on Chip's standing on a table. The windows now look ridiculously small and were I viewing that apartment, that is first thing I would notice. Speaking of the ceiling, I am not a fan of exposed plumbing. it's hidden for a reason. I also didn't like the glass office/bedroom and hope that all the owner's occasional overnight visitor is agile enough to negotiate the ladder to the bed. I don't like open plan living rooms and given the size of the main space, would have wanted the kitchen to be less obvious. I guess I didn't really like much of that makeover. 🤔

I understood none of Joanna's notes about the bedroom/office. I'm glad Chip understood her vision. I have seen a few videos where these two do renos and in each video Joanna NEVER wears appropriate shoes. She's always in sandals or some other sort of soft shoe. - - I wonder why they didn't show the bedroom.

BOUGHT SPACE and turned it into a "loft-style" apartment...I'm sure there is condo fees in that building. Don't like the "ladder" to the "loft" bed..I believe a regular stair or circular would have been better in that spot. There was the space & the height for one.
