I believe that E9 has had a full nut & bolt rebuild in South Africa, it was then flown over to be at Gravity at the NEC the other week, this guy is big pals with James who now own my E36 M3 Evo that you see at shows Reg No R9 HLY👊

Palm . My first visit and maybe my last BUT ! Your obvious respect for Chip and like wise , was refreshing . By sheer coincidence , yesterday l went to visit a shop that l actually worked at in 1978 ! I'd heard that it was now specialising in classic cars so thought l'd drop in unannounced . Outside was parked a spanking 1976 Jaguar XJC V12 ......good start . So l walked into the reception and told the receptionist l really was just being nosey and had worked there 45 years earlier . The owner over heard , popped his head around and within 5 minutes we were best mates. When you both have respect for your workmanship , you gel very easily . I've restored many cars but l'm renowned for Mk 1 pre-airflow Lotus Cortina's and as soon as Richard mentioned 550 VAR and l replied l'd restored it . We were buddies for ever !! Just to put Chip in the picture , BMW were painting their cars in Glasurit basecoat / clear system in the early 1970's . Glasurit were the pioneers of the clear over base system . Thanks Palm

As a fellow E9 owner myself, this is a beautiful E9. But I don't think there was a 2800CSi, the csi motor was only available starting in 1972 with the 3.0CSi. I know cause my E9 has a 3.0csi motor.

the original blimkers are high as the body they make part of the body design very ahead in simplcity in design but over other brands excluding Mercedes

i have a bmw 3.0csi four door and two from diferent years a older and a newer coupé 2800 cs and a "i" with diferent side mirrors ,they are all beutifull but that ones is too low, i like them restored to original ,one can improve the shockabsorvents , the BBS weren´t for this car but to the 80´s model ,the thing that surprised me the most was the four door being faster than the two coupés,i have some 9 BMW from the 70´s already sold two but the most i paid was what today is 450€ in the late 80´s the others including a 645i from 75 were ofered to me by their original owners when no one wanted them ,so my car colection was me looking for cars that i didn´t had in the 70´s, one i trade it for a Pioneer cassette deck ,a 2002 from 74 restored in the 80´s ,have a lot more mainly from BMW, Mercedes-Benz ,Lancia and Alfa-Romeu and from my father i also received some nice looking cars fom diferent brands including american cars most of them from 67 to 69 and a 74, the more modern BMW i own is a 850i from 92, like the one on the back in the elevator
