Yes, I think there are 3 button batteries in the resetter that can be changed. Just open the screws and carefully open the case to get access.

No, it does not and we are not aware of a suitable chip resetter for Xerox.

What ink would you recommend to refill cartridges? eBay has cheap ink but the quality looks bad. Would the ink from the eco tank refills be the best option?

Your right, lots of cheapo inks on Ebay. Look for a good "Archival" quality ink. The difference is that they will give sharper colour matched colours, or very close colour match, and Archival inks will not fade. Apologfies for not replying sooner.

We have not tried it on a WF-7840 printer cartridge and have not stocked them. There is a chip resetter available for the 405 cartridges. I hope this helps

The WF7840 uses 812XL, do you know if there is a resetter for that cartridge available?

@@lauradavidson5919 Hi Laura, A little confused on this as we supply refillable cartridges for the WF-7840 printer and they are 405 series cartridges. I have also checked with Epson.co.uk and they also offer the 405 series cartridges for this printer model. I can see online that a couple of US companies are offering the 812 series inks for this printer, as XL version cartridges. This may be a regional version issue in that you need to use the cartridges offered in that region. In the UK, it is the 405 series that are used for the WF-7840. I hope this helps. Where are youi located?

Just apply the re-setter to the chip once and wait for red flashing light to turn green. The chip is then reset to full. The chip can be reset many times.

The chips on my epson cartridges are 5 and 4 across, and the resetters are only 4 and 3 pins across. Will the resetter still work? Also, if I removed the chips from the epson original cartridges and replaced them on the 3rd party cartridges, would that trick the printer into thinking the cartridge is genuine? I ran an firmware update and ever since the printer won't recognize the 3rd party cartridges I had installed. Just found out epson is notorious for this and I tried to install an earlier firmware version but it didn't work.

@@KA-lm6sp Try "WIC reset utility tools" Google it to find the detail. This tool can roll back the firmware to a previous firmware version which should resolve your issues in using third party cartridges. Yes, Epson continually updates printers firmware, which according to Epson, is to improve the performance of a printer. Amazingly the update always frustrates the use of third party cartridges. We moved away from selling Epson printers a while ago owing to this practice.
