In this episode, Willow Jones (Dr. Brett's daughter) makes her debut in the "In the Moment" series for her 6 month old chiropractic check-up :)
Many people don't know how effective and gentle chiropractic care can be for children. We have have taken care of kids with all types of conditions and symptoms and also love being able to help the little ones be as dynamic and adaptive as possible!
In this episode you will find a details about:
- how often should kids get checked by the chiropractor (1-2x/mo for healthy children. And more frequent for kids experiencing dysfunction/dis-connection)
- dynamic, adapting, integrating nerve systems is what we want!
- the potential of cord torsion or tension during development
- discovering neuro-spinal dysfunction
- activators and spring loaded instruments for adjustments
- the importance of the impulse being fast (affects golgi tendon organ, muscle spindle, and joint mechanoreceptors)
- integration and adaptation after the impulse
- assessing cord tension
- a tip for the children who wear headbands and bows (make sure not to jam those precious cranial bones and disrupt CSF flow)
- how a jammed frontal bone can create sinus issues
- how when kids start to get on all fours, they may have develop stuck areas of the spine (mainly between the shoulder blades)

Hi there Dr. Jones, I've been told that I have a minor form of scoliosis in my back. Is this treateble by chiropracting??

As a preface, minor scoliosis that does not create dysfunction should not be worried about. And, chiropractic can be very effective at helping people who suffer with dysfunction/pain due to scoliosis.

True, mainly because of where he lived. Unfortunately, Australia has not awakened to the benefits to of chiropractic care for children and are much more strict in their regulations.

I'm trying to find a good Chiropractor in Australia atm and I just don't really trust anyone, unfortunately we've had a lot of sexual assaults perpetrated by practitioners and it's hard to know where you'll be safe.
