Maybe I’m spoiled but Im 29 & been married since 21 and I have literally never paid a dime in our relationship. My husband is a true provider and prides himself in providing for us (family of 5) but I know this day and age it’s whatever works for that couple is whatever they feel is best.

As a 29yr old married woman, this is what I say about the 50/50 issue: A man (not a boy) should be able to pay his rent, electricity, phone and whatever else REGARDLESS if I am there or not! That's the bare minimum, especially if said man wants kids, etc. When I moved in with my husband before marriage, (we are traditional for the most part) he didn't expect me to pay any bills, but since I worked and had my own money, I always got groceries and household items. If I am the main one using it, I'm swiping my card for it. I didn't want to add to his expenses, not that he would mind, I took pride in taking care of my own needs. We've been married 5yrs, not one argument about money even now with joint accounts. Thank God, we're both pretty responsible. As a woman though, I am able to back him up 100% if it ever comes down to it.

EL OH EL!! When you went off on your little tangent about going 50/50, I literally started talking back to the screen. I had to catch myself, but I just have so much to say regarding that topic. I do believe in going 50/50 with your partner (specifically if you're living together) especially if both of you are still working toward having a solid foundation in your respective careers. However, I also feel that once a child is brought into the relationship, it ends up being more 60/40 or 70/30 financially because of the role that a mother plays (not to say men are not active fathers). As far as toxic friendships.... I recently ended a friendship that I thought would be lifelong because I felt we just were headed in two totally different directions. I love her endlessly, but I just started to realize that she was comfortable with the life she has. She didn't really seem to want more, and I do, which is okay. I think hanging on to the friendship is what made it toxic not necessarily either of us as individuals.

I agree 10000% with this post! Kids make things more different for sure! & again, I feel that. Having two different lifestyles and trying to hang on is what makes it toxic. Not necessarily the person. Ugh I love reading you guys responses & views!

100% agree with 50/50 relationship. I go 50/50 with my man. Kids isn’t an excuse for a women to feel like she can not contribute as much. We have 3 kids between the two of us. If i cook he’ll wash the dishes, vice versa if I’m too tired to clean he’ll do it vice versa. Be both work hard (dual military) we both take care of the kids. We in this together and i personally think it’s selfish for a women to EXPECT a man to take care of them in today’s economy

I don’t necessarily agree with 50/50… i did it when i was young. We got married and had a child, never in my life did i go 50/50 after my divorce. But ppl are different and mindsets are different. So whatever works. Just know once you start 50/50 , MOST MEN (not all) will continue the 50/50 mindset so don’t start what you don’t want to continue long term

I definitely feel like when kids are added in, it makes things different. In my chat was talking about relationship/marriage, no children. However, I do believe if you start 50/50 and things have to change due to circumstances then it should be okay. To be honest, whatever works in people households is what matters most! ❤️

Dom i loved all the topics discussed in this grwm esp the 50/50 discussion. I agree with you on that also i grew up in a household with both parents but they did 50/50 and i see major success behind it. I think it depends on the time. So for example, I'm approaching my 30s but went back to college to pursue medicine. This would be a time when I would expect my partner to provide more financially while I pursue my dreams, but I agree that it's a dance and there should be equity. So, the gentleman I'm dating is a physician and makes more than me (I'm a student full-time and a phlebotomist part-time). Right now, I can't provide much financially, but one day I'll be able to help more. I think communication is key, and each couple is different. There are also cultural considerations. I have a hard time accepting help, so I tend to suffer in silence financially and pull the whole, "I'm an Independent woman" when I could just communicate my needs a bit better with my partner. I will say, I'm not too keen on 50/50 considering I provide so many other things like household duties, this 50/50 can easily become more of a roommate situation with sexual benefits...But, to each their own. It's a delicate dance that requires lots of healthy, transparent communication.
@DominiqueDooley

I agree, communication is key. Every couple is different! Also there may be phases in the relationship, like you mentioned, where one may be in school and the other must put forth a little more. However, overall the important thing is to keep an open line of communication. 🩷

Hey gorgeous. I’m new to your channel & I love the energy so far. Interesting topics and beautiful makeup in this video 😍 Personally, I don’t agree with 50/50. I’m a registered nurse as well and I think it’s easy for men (especially within our age range) to take advantage of the money we make…but that’s if we allow it! I grew up in a single parent household too, but I’m making it my mission to not repeat the mistakes of past generations. I’m learning that women are wired differently than men: physically, emotionally, & spiritually/energetically. Based on evolution, it benefits both the man & woman when a man is handling all the finances. It leaves room for us women to have our delicious creative energy flowing, take care of the house and children, and explore other ways to play & create generational wealth. I love nursing, but I don’t plan on doing this profession long term. Making my own money to keep up with my looks, SAVE, and educate myself on universal topics is where I’m at right now. I enjoy topics about healthy relationship dynamics, so thank you for your perspective on this!

I go 50/50 with my husband around the household. We live in Cali and sis that’s not cheep for young adults. We’re both still in school so, yea we’re no millionaires. However, when it comes to us going on vacations, dates and things of that nature he pays 100%. Plus I feel men tend to try and control women or belittle them when they know their woman can’t hold her own when/if it came down to it. So I want to let it be known I don’t need him. He’s just an addition in my life.

I think the 50/50 makes sense before kids. But once there’s kids involved it gets tricky. Like personally I don’t think it’s fair because in most cases the mom mostly Carries everything to do w the kids. Now If we dividing kids doctors appt and school meetings and house chores 50/50 then I can understand but no way for me 50/50 and I’m doing everything in the home and kids nope

Whew heavy on the person lifestyle is the reason why some of my friendships ended , I just couldn’t. Now when I pick friends I make sure they don’t have any of that extra stuff going on. My husband take cares of all the rent , car insurance and everything right now while I’m in nursing school, These bills so high you need to at least do something, I try to make a utility or something I’m prn so when I do work my required shift I try to do something buy groceries or something because I know it’s a lot on him.

Thank you finally someone with some sense!! I never understood how women be so comfortable allowing a man paying everything and they don’t pay for nothing. It will never sit right with me I don’t care how much he making I’m helping as well. It is important as a women to feel just as dominant as a man so I definitely agree with you girl.
