I saw the original at The Goodman. I have loved this play since childhood and thought it was a bizarre idea for a musical but the book was wonderful. As was Ms. Rivera and her costar, John McMartin. The sets were lovely, as was the staging, including her spectacular entrance.

Glad to see this version. It is very different from the Broadway version. Where and when was this?

Love Ms.Rivera, love Kander and Ebb, love the film version. Yet, no doubt, this excerpt stinks to high heaven. Miss Rivera sounds like she is singing a cut song from Zorba--in Anthony Quinn's keys!

Is this based on the play The Visit, which was made into a movie with Ingrid Bergman?
