In order to win Chito must finish Sean. The UFC wants Sean to win and therefore the judges will not score in Chito's favor. If Chito doesn't want to be the next Dominic Reyes, he better try his best for a finish here.

Yeah no it wasn’t even close, nothing to do with the judges Ik you said this is advance, but completely dominated him on the feet connected solid once with a body shot in the final seconds, Sean almost knocked him out multiple times also 180 something punches vs chitos 90 more than double his total

Chito: Besides beating two of the best 135ers to ever grace the octagon back to back, Sean hasn’t beaten anyone… He’s talking as if he has fought better opponents, and he has 22 fights in the organization (double the amount of O’Malley)! In Chito’s 10th and 11th fight, he fought Wulijiburen and Guido Cannetti back to back. In Sean’s 10th and 11th, he fought Yan and Sterling.. Hilarious. Chito’s cockiness and dismissal of O’Malley as a worthy opponent will lead to his downfall. Mind you, Chito is the challenger on a one fight win streak dismissing the champion.. 😂 You just can’t make this up.

His self awareness is really, really low. He’s talking about fighting Petr Yan off of a Pedro Munhoz no-decision being a gift, yet he is getting a title shot off of Pedro who is now 2-5 in his last 7 contests. Yan wanted to fight Sean, and everyone else in the division was booked besides Rob Font, who would be sidelined for almost a full year (4/30/22-4/8/23). Marlon even had the chance to fight Yan calling him out for Aug. 13, 2022, whereas Yan responded that he would be ready for Sept./Oct. Chito, in response, tweeted he “ain’t waiting for no one.” This opened to door for Sean to swoop in and fight Yan in October, whereas Chito fought down the rankings against Dominick Cruz in August. This benefited Sean greatly, and he can thank Chito for the career-defining moment.

👀 so did I and I completely forgot lol. But I'll be the first to admit media scores shouldn't be weighed that heavily. Most don't have a nuanced understanding of how it works. I've done a lot of research and I still have trouble. Sean Sheehan is probably the most informed on it and he scored it for Chito for what it's worth. Coulda gone either way from what I vaguely remember

@@M30-z7n Umar and Merab are both better IMO. There is no dominant best right now. Sean has had a very easy route. Aljo was fairly dominant and beat a lot of top guys. Prime Henry would be problem for the division as well but he is past that. Mc Ghee is unranked and could probably give Sean or Chito a tough night.

But there are a lot of variables there too: search interest at the time (Paddy was fighting around that time and Sean wasn't), video type, etc. I'm definitely interested in analyzing search trends for O'Malley relative to other notable fighters in the coming months.

There was a doctor who explained how Chito's calf kick may have impaired the leg, leading to the ankle injury. So I don't know if "fluke" is quite fair but I think it's reasonable to say the first fight isn't a tremendous indicator of how the second will go

He literally did not land a single head or body strike😂😂 If by problems, you mean two judges scoring the first round for Pedro, ok I guess? Funny enough, 14/17 media members scored the fight for Pedro against Chito. Apparently he “won a very decisive decision” though 😂

Turns out I was one of those media that scored it for Pedro against Chito haha, so I guess my memory isn't as sharp as I thought. That being said, I don't think it's fair for you to discredit Pedro's work against O'Malley. Leg kicks or not: Pedro slightly outstruck Sean and -- like you said -- won on two of the judges' scorecards. So if I'm going to be accountable then my stance is: Pedro gave both of them problems.

It was a weird fight and tough to score since there wasn’t much action in the first round. I enjoy your interviews though Shak, keep up the good work.
