Chitty and Friends

A musical look at the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 50 Years exhibition staged at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, Hampshire during 2019.
The exhibition was described as a truly scrumptious collection of never-before-seen memorabilia, artwork, costumes and props to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this family favourite film.
We also see some of Rowland Emmett's marvellous machines that were designed for the film on display in Coggins' Garage.

Ian Fleming's novel was set in the 1930's, during which time cars were already available to common people. The 1968 film was set in the pre-WW1 era, back when cars were novelty items and could only be afforded by the rich upper class. Resetting the movie's timeline from the 1930's to the pre-WW1 era really helped the main characters stand out more by depicting them as common people who owned something only available to the rich & affluent.

The lead song was from 1914, billy murray, get out and get under that car. The original was 1913, al jolson, but he dident write it either. I think i first heard it on the dr demento show

Chitty chitty bang bang the best car in the world a very very long time ago I visited the castle that was used by baron bomburst in the film

Not the one with the dull brass, but was the other Chitty car the original driving car?

I think it probably was. According to Wikipedia the original driving car is on display at the National Motor Museum, and the car with the polished brass seems to be the one on permanent display.

Actually, the car with the dull brass and aluminum exhaust was an original move car. The polished car was a replica. I visited the museum last September.

The original car was owned by a man who let them use his car that falls apart in the roses of success scene and he sold it at auction the car is now owned by sir peter jackson who directed the lord of the rings movies and he lets people borrow the car for displays and charity
