Top tip for you budding engineers, leave enough space in between your walls to allow teammates to attack through the gaps. Having at least two engineers group up with some spear users is one of the best ways to take advantage of this. Also, placing that spike thingamabob behind a wall allows you and your team to hop over while blocking enemy advances.

The incentive to play engineer would be greater if they gave you points for putting barricades near objective areas, along with earning points for enemies hitting your barricades. Otherwise, it’s just putting up barricades and sitting behind with a spear I found and poking people.

One of my favorite things to do with the Engineer is on the Ice Map, where the Mason spawn has destructible floors. Sledgehammers do bonus damage to surfaces so it's easiest, but it's possible with any weapon, you drop the enemy as they push you
