I also have most hours played with the long sword. The stab is ridiculous in crowded spaces as well when dueling because everybody is spamming slash counter so you just end up skewering them. Slash feint to stab works almost every time.

I love the longsword I feel that the longsword, war mace, and two handed hammer are the only 2h weapons that can stack against the 1h sword speed

I love chivalry but I can’t be the only one who wishes they add some sort of proper 1v1 mode some kind of 2v2 mode with a ranking system and most of all more armour because that’s where I think they are lacking is armour customisation

I sought information on how to better use the Longsword, and you have only reinforced my resolve to master this weapon. I'm rank 18 on my Knight right now and started adapting the knowledge here in this video. In my first game ever, I insta-locked Knight cause I like Full-plate armor, but was slightly disappointed at the longsword's initial capabilities having come from For Honor and Ds3. It was alien to me: A 2-handed weapon with lower range than an axe? Whats the point? Needless to say, my first few matches with it were ugly. I hadn't understood that blocking took stamina yet, but I was getting kills here and there with it, not fully understand why. This was partially because I kept holding heavy attacks and had not yet read into any of the Longsword's stats past face value, and was confused even more when I tried weapons of similar length and speed but found even less success using them. I was also primarily killing people who had battle axes, a weapon I can easily understand why despite being deft at the game, I could still beat people who were using them. I still wasn't good with it, or at Knight, but I persisted and stayed Officer purely because when I looked at other weapons that I had access to among the Knight and its sub-classes, they all looked ugly to me, even the Longsword's starting Bastard sword appearence was too heafty for my taste and I quickly opted for the non-argon look for it just so it felt more familiar in my Dreadmare's hands. Around this point I was still playing very defensively. I would swing at opponents, miss entirely, and they'd kill me with overwhelming force, or just outright better grasp of the combat system. Time and time again my beautiful sword would be knocked out of my hands and I would cop either a sledgehammer or a war axe to the face and be frustrated not understanding the problem. I figured out that Stamina drains when you block but not quite how to get kills yet Once I finally understood that the Longsword had less range on most 2 handed weapons, I was reminded of an important fundemental to swordfights that my favorite childhood Author had taught me: If your weapon has shorter reach than your opponents, get closer to them. Suddenly everything made sense to me. I started full on sprinting and tackling into every Agathian I could find and dragging my blade through entire groups of enemies regardless of if I could see them still. Having read the weapon description and learning that it it has good thrust attacks, I started cleaving and impaling my opponents on the blade and crossguard every chance I got. I was turning waves of the enemies who had once easily bested me alone into mince meat by adopting a strategy of absolute agression every match. I still lose quite a lot, having a K/D of .8 per life, but now I can properly hold my own, going up to 5-7 kills under constant pressure if I can keep control of the situation. Before, where a 1v2 against me meant instantly winning, I can now properly challenge three opponents at once and have a fair chance of coming out ontop. The Longsword is the only weapon in Chivalry 2 that I truly love and can use with a level of consistancy as of this moment, so I thank you for providing me with an even greater understanding of this sword.

this was beautiful prose and a great read. as a beginner myself i already love the longsword and i’ve definitely caught on to the fact that you need to be close to be effective. personally i play the dueling modes so there aren’t many 1vX fights for me to practice with but my knight is already rank 10 after 2 days and this video and its comments have been a great help!

The longsword is the best beginner weapon and also the best weapon once you’ve gotten good and are a pro swordsman war axe helped me learn to use the longsword even better maul is my fun weapon cos it just well it mauls people

Thanks for this one! I had no idea that Alt attacks existed. I play on console and I had to research it to realize that L3 on consoles is the Alt attack. Thanks so much. Your videos are awesome. Glad I subbed. You have a lot of videos. Do you have a longer video that shows how to counter and survive against the Messer slash spammers as well as the sword and shield slash spammers? They are very annoying and I always die to a falchion/shield combo.

yeah i think the best knight weapons (atleast for my playstyle) are the longsword for speed and stabby stuff, and the two handed hammer for pure strength, and there is the pollaxe somewhere in between though it's not as versitile as the longsword and not as powerfull as the hammer.

I played with ps joystick on pc and it is a completely different game when switching to keyboard. Idk if it's an "alt key" in a joystick, but it is not pretty easy to find.

It's a bug with touching the customization of 1H Spear. Look in reddit for the fix.
