At first I was skeptical when Vexen saved Ansem and said he wanted to atone, thinking it was just a ruse to trick Ansem into helping the Organization, but after him secretly meeting with Demyx, I was convinced.

Demyx's and Vexen's interaction was priceless. This guy makes me laugh every time. The mad scientist trope was played well. As for Demyx, he's a guy who just likes to have a good time and put on a show.

The only person who wishes to atone, given the clue later on during the Final Clashes, is that the person who asked for Vexen's help to atone was Saix. Roxas points his Keyblade at him when he says that he owes his return to many, Xemnas states Zexion and Ansem, and Roxas replies "and others too".

This might be a little late, but, thank you for making this. Vexen is my favorite character in Kingdom Hearts; sure, he might be a jerk wad, but once you get to know him, he's not so bad. He's just a man of science that was manipulated to do horrible things in the organization. In other words, I feel really bad for him.

So after the Keyblade War, it seemed Vexen allowed his Replica vessel to be destroyed so he can be free of the Xehanort fragment inside him and to be recompleted as a human again it seems

Because if he didn’t, he would arouse the suspicion of his fellow Organization members. Remember, Vexen went into this with intention of betraying them, he could not raise any alarms until he completed the vessels needed for Namine and I believe Roxas.

Roman Draco Vexen had to join the Organization to get access to the vessels he had had been working on, and if while he was working on perfecting him he suspiciously only made a couple for Namine and Roxas, the others would definitely wonder what was up. You can tell Even and Vexen’s scenes apart by his eyes. In any cutscene he has yellow eyes he is Vexen and any scene where he has green eyes he is Even.

Oh hey, he does have green eyes. Um, wait. Who killed his nobody off? Also, Vexen already had replicas ready after his original death? He wasn't visited by young Xehanort by then so how did he know to prepare the replicas in the first place? Or did he just have spares lying around?

Roman Draco I do believe that is a plot hole within itself, but I’m gonna rationalize it as Ansem and Ienzo simply found a way to make him whole again without taking him out LOL Vexen didn’t actually have the vessels ready, at least not the ones that are in KHIII. During III he was working on new vessels that when filled with a heart, were in every way a human as a natural born one. Riku Replica was a prototype of this, but Vexen died before he could complete the better models. That’s why he rejoined the Nobodies, so he could infiltrate their ranks and complete his work. But to go unnoticed he had to complete them all.

In Re:Mind Saix writes Vexen and Demyx off as backups/benchwarmers for the organization. While that claim may hold some truth to it, what if that was just his way of making sure they were free to run around and help the good guys while no one else noticed?

As far as the old organization, I believe Xemnas mentioned earlier that numbers 9 through 12 have an ancient keyblade legacy slumbering within them. Demyx was one of these members so he was included. As for the true organization 13, he was brought in as a back-up in case Xehanort needed him as one of the 13 hearts of darkness.

Simple the Organization searched for human Nobodies over the Years, as they needed 13 for Master Xehanort’s alternate plan Demyx was found and they couldn’t resist recruiting him as human Nobodies are rare, as victims of Heartless usually either have their body and soul disappear or become lesser Nobodies Demyx is strong in potential with his water magic but has no ambition to work or be a fighter, that’s what makes him “pathetic” really as he’s too lax His main role was in being a scout though

I wonder if there is a reason that some become lesser nobodies and some keep their human forms. On the other point, he proved to be quite a challenge in the final battle against him in Kingdom Hearts 2. He has skill, ability, and potential, but as you pointed out, he has no actual ambition or desire to improve his abilities. He seemed to prefer being a scout because it is easy work.

Vexen went undercover Vexen spent years doing untold horrible things for the Organization in research for the Heart and perfecting the Replicas. After being struck down in Castle Oblivion and became human again, purified to whatever darkness corrupted him Before, he was filled with remorse what he had done as Vexen Betraying Ansem, ruining countless lives to people that either became Heatless or experiments or whatever else he had done over the years as Vexen He wanted to make things right So he willingly not only became a Nobody again but became an alternate vessel of Master Xehanort to willingly go undercover as a double agent in the True Organization XIII He had to be discreet as other members would be watching over him as he’s important in making more Replicas to revive Organization Members with Him meeting Demyx and rescuing Ansem in those scenes was risky in itself so he couldn’t dare try meet Enzio/Zexion without being found out Demyx was less likely to be found out as everyone was likely to ignore him, so Vexen entrusted him to do the things for him
