@@SumaiyahAbdulKader we had a similar situation and it was hell but we got through it. Once that baby is born you will know what matters and that layoff will be a punctuation mark. It will be exhausting but you will not be working to build someone else’s dream or fortune. Lean on your family and friends for different things. Our son was born during lockdown. That is one problem you won’t have to deal with. It can be done. You can find a way. Don’t forget that.

Being laid off sucks, I was laid off last year at my job of 8 years. Even though I was a high performer it was due to company’s restructuring my position was eliminated. I got severance pay for 3 months but hearing that news on a zoom call is devastating. Lots of thoughts go through your head and sometimes can be overwhelming. But during that transition period I spent some time in reading God’s word (the Bible) and in prayer. I promised God, if he gave me a job I would be baptized by immersion to show the world my faith in him is true. Two months later, after countless job applications and failed interviews, God provided and gave me job I’m still at today. He fulfilled his promise and I fulfilled mine by walking the aisle at my church and taking that step of obedience in faith of getting baptized. I was not a heavily religious person at that time but my faith in God and Jesus helped me get through that dark time in my life. It also made me realized to keep my resume up to date and not get too comfortable at any job, because you never know what is happening at the corporate level.

Hello Chloe. I've never watched any of your videos before this one and the proposal to Kevin that you did, but my younger brother got sacked from his post about a few days following your video despite his then boss telling him how good he was at work. It was the result of restructuring and a branding change that was going to happen and he was supposed to travel with my mom before he found out about it in a video conference meeting. As far as I'm concerned, I've had some bad luck finding a job on my own in the first place as a result of circumstances that are beyond what I could possibly control myself (being autistic and having a speech impairment), and I've been in a program to address those aspects of my life - although it was a seasonal job I first got with Yankee Stadium in New York City before I ended up working for a community center which took much longer to happen (some of this delay came from my end). I've had folks that told me what jobs they thought I should do with my bachelor's diploma that I received. My second oldest brother was looking to put me in one of his companies to work for him since he was a doctor, but he passed on as a result of a prior on/off mental sickness he had before that could happen. There was a point where I became tired of the stagnancy regarding my life, so I applied last November to what I've wanted to do all my life as a city railroad conductor in "Gotham". It's one of those city posts that require a civil service exam and my dad has known me as an human compass given my extensive knowledge with the trains and buses in the Big Apple; I just want to be in an area where I'd be helpful to people. I honestly don't know what to say to help or even direct you to anyone that'd help in your situation. I feel so bad you got the pink slip from Discord, but I hope you find a better job with a different company than what you had with them. And way to go regarding your recent proposal to Kevin! The beginning of that video was heartwarming, but it ended in making me laugh out loud - especially the portion about re-creating the murder mystery.

I got laid off early 2024 and it's indeed a bless in disguise (or is it?). I ended up interviewing and joining my dream company. While I had the job, I keep pushing things off. I continue to get severance between the two jobs.

Exactly one week after you'd posted laid off video, I got laid off from my company too..😂 I'm still processing it but, as you said, it's just another beginning 😊 I'll get over it and make myself more solid. Thnx for sharing your hard experience with us and Let's make big year!

I got laid off right before the holidays last year. That was the confirmation that I needed that the company doesn’t care about employees at all.

My parents have lived through so many economic ups and downs and so I really appreciated their chillness two years ago when my work place closed and we weren't sure if it would be permanent. I was like "What if I suddenly don't have a job?" and they were like "Well it happens. Just enjoy the free day you have and go on a walk". I was like, "Oh yeah. I guess it'll be okay."
