This is part one of two from the CHM Live show “Putting Your Finger On It: Creating the iPhone.”
Watch Part 2-Original iPhone Software Team Leader Scott Forstall: bit.ly/2si7WDQ
Watch the Full Show: bit.ly/2sVP10E
During 2006, the year before the iPhone was introduced, it seemed that innovation in mobile devices was beginning to slip away from Silicon Valley. Wireless computing was advancing more quickly in Europe than it was in the United States. That all changed abruptly when Steve Jobs stepped onstage at Moscone Center in San Francisco and asserted he was introducing “three revolutionary products” in one package-the iPhone.
How did iPhone come to be? On June 20, four members of the original development team will join historian and journalist John Markoff to discuss the secret Apple project, which In the past decade has remade the computer industry, changed the business landscape, and become a tool in the hands of more than a billion people around the world.

I wonder what they feel about the iPhone today, given that it's plateaued for years and is running on the fumes of their marketing prowess.

All tech, even revolutionary tech, plateaus at some point. Then something replaces it. Are you more impressed with phones from other vendors?

@@JorisWitteman I'm quite impressed by Samsung and Xiaomi's bold attempt at evolving the folding phone, they're not polished yet, but I'd give it 3 more generations. Anyone who's seriously innovating will get my respect and patronage 🙌

@@MADMAX7330 Folding phone is not the next generation, unless it's very thin. But we are living in a world with brick size phones.

I used to think a computer history museum was a worthwhile endeavor but after watching interviews on this channel it just seems pointless.
