It's actually to help kids when they're first learning to talk. It's a little hard to differentiate me and I because if I'm talking about myself in first person I use a lot of Is and stuff I forget the exact wording i heard it from but the gist was that they talk in third person because it's easier to their audience to understand who the character is talking about It's really fascinating stuff!
