I believe the headshot part was just luck. One of the thing Choco is really known to be good at is estimating where his opponent is with sound, sure sometimes he gets confused if they are in second floor but there's none of that because they're outside. So it make sense since they were close for Chico to hear him. It would be a different story tho if the enemy was far away because he can't hear him.
