Alto Choir Practice: "O vos omnes" , "O all ye", by Tomàs Luis da Victoria. "O vos omnes qui transitis per viam" (Latin text from Lamentations 1:12), originally sung as part of the Roman Catholic liturgies for Holy Week, and now often sung as a motet. Tomàs Luis da Victoria (1548-1611) was a Spanish composer-priest of the sixteenth century, and is sometime called the "Spanish Palestrina".
O vos omnes qui transitis per viam:
attendite et videte si est dolor sicut dolor meus.
Atténdite, univérsi pópuli, et vidéte dolórem méum.
Si est dólor símilis sícut dólor méus.
O all you who walk by on this road,
pay attention and see if there be any sorrow like to my sorrow.
Pay heed, all people, and see my sorrow,
If there be any sorrow like to my sorrow.
