In this lecture, Professor Zach Murphy will present on Cholangitis. We will discuss the pathophysiology, highlighting the bacterial infection of the bile ducts, often secondary to obstruction. The session will transition to a digital presentation focused on the diagnostic approach, including clinical features, laboratory findings indicative of infection and biliary obstruction, and imaging studies such as ultrasonography and ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography). Finally, we will review the management strategies for Cholangitis, emphasizing antibiotic therapy and, in cases of obstruction, endoscopic or surgical interventions to restore bile flow. one correction: Ca absorption is increased in fat malabsorption as Ca in the diet binds to oxalate in the terminal ileum but due to increase fat it binds to fat instead and this leads to formation of Calcium Oxalate stones in the kidney
