Love this band, also I love that they don't need like $5000 worth of equipment per musician to sound good live. Simplicity, bc they are actually talented on their instruments. No need to hide behind a bunch of crap. So many bands make it now bc they play petrucci guitars and have axe fx... there needs to be more bands like this so that musicians aren't gear snobs judging talent on cost of equipment
@MrRandynnn10 жыл бұрын

CHON wins. Whatever these guys are doing, they're doing it right. Other instrumental bands like AAL or STS leave me wanting more. Not that they aren't all superb musicians, but these guys are so satisfying to listen to.

+Josh Shipps Maybe try listening to more AAL? I agreed with you when I first got into prog, but the more I listen the better AAL gets. Meanwhile CHON is just amazing from the get go, so they're always great.
@samschellhase88318 жыл бұрын
What I like about STS though is that they actually print there music and you can buy it directly from them. You can both learn the music yourself (both music and tab) and support the band. But anyway, really looking at the music and being able to really see what they're playing is amazing. And from a bass players perspective this band leaves me wanting more. But that's just their style, and I still love it. But I'm definitely not lacking anything from either STS or AAL, maybe you're missing something :) Maybe it's just a style preference :)

I loved that this band does not apply the concepts of "lead guitars" and "backing guitars". The two of them shared the same amount of power throughout the song, whilst still maintaining each other's uniqueness. This is some good video to show to kids that want to start playing guitars and/or starting a band.

@slleepytea8219 жыл бұрын
+Nasi Lemak I disagree, using the "that jazz" or lydian scale can be simple to preform as long as you keep things paced and remember your chords imo. Plus, if you have a will then there's always a way!
@slleepytea8219 жыл бұрын
+Nasi Lemak But what he's trying to say is what if there were people who were trying to start a band that had a union like Chon? There would be less disagreements and more music (despite the bassist who left). You dont have to play progressive mathcore or Satriani to actually say, "Hey, I play the guitar".

I love those riffs. 4:12 it reminds me some of the good old days of megadeth in rust in peace, the drummer Nick Menza does a similar job in some of the songs, and the guitar duo at 6:10 also reminds me some of Dave Mustaine and Martin Friedman arrangements in some of Rust in peace album songs, not copy of course but just similar techniques. Anyway, huge respects from Mexico. I love the feeling of the songs, and various main themes in each one. 5:25 a tear came to my eye.
