I love Chonny's Charming Descent of Delirious, Destructive Democracy. So funny, so silly.

I do want to say that Chonny touched on this being representative of plurality in a Q&A and has confirmed that it indeed is NOT inspired by plurality itself, but here's what he said! Q: What inspired you to do the separate consciousnesses concept? Does it have any connection to the idea of dissociative disorders? A: I think the idea of separating concepts and emotions into characters is something that shows up a lot in fiction, so I probably just gravitated toward it as a result of that. (The Sins from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood spring to mind, it being one of my favourite shows of all time.) Truthfully, the world of dissociative disorders is one that I hadn’t really considered until CCCC had already built up a lot of steam, when more and more people had shown that they related to these songs from DID, Plural, BPD and similar-specific lenses, which is awesome. So while I didn’t initially write the songs with those intentions, the fact that people are hearing them and finding relatability in those ideas is extremely encouraging to me, and I would never disparage that reading of it. You can find the Q&A here! medium.com/@CJFS/chonny-jash-q-a-df8be8626b47

Yea! I love the Q&A, I saw it in the fan server. These videos are meant to show how I placed the story throughout my original listen to the album, I know it’s not correct by this point but I just like interpreting music, games, and media in ways that maybe even the authors didn’t even think of! This channel is more meant to be a way for me to talk about hyperfixations and theories of mine without annoying my friends IRL and online about them.

"A: I think the idea of separating concepts and emotions into characters is something that shows up a lot in fiction, so I probably just gravitated toward it as a result of that." I wonder if Chonny watches Sanders Sides occasionally since its whole thing is aspects of a person's mind as separate entities. He'd probably like it, I dunno.

In regards to the childhood trauma angle, in addition to what's portrayed in "Two Wuv," I wanted to turn your attention to a few songs from "Covered In Discontent," which I personally see as a bit of a lead up to the Charming Chaos Compendium: - Hallelujah, Hokum All Ye Faithful: You don't need to read too far between the lines to find a Chonny incredibly disillusioned with organized religion. Together with what we see in Two Wuv, it...well, it paints a certain picture. - Spooky Scary Skeletons: The cover is a lot more sympathetic towards "Skeletons" than the original, portraying them as a socially isolated group that is being warned away against, only for the singer to question if they deserve to be as isolated from everyone else as they are. - The Man With The Skeleton Arms: The one notable difference here is the switch from calling the skeleton-armed man "He" to "I." Read together with the previous cover, I feel like the "Skeletons" may be a metaphor for the LGBTQ Community, and how they were seen in Chonny's household growing up. - Restless Heart: The original song talks about being only able to feel satisfied with yourself while creating art. But I feel like it takes on a different meaning in this context. - Scatman's World: An anti-racism song. Very easily applicable as anti-homophobia. - Alone With My Thoughts: Isolation. Chonny feels lonely, and tired. I know it's probably all covered by Two Wuv, but this all adds even a bit more context.

the reason i started listening to chonny jash in the first place was actually because i found his cover of be born; it was achingly familiar and comforting to me, as a person with DID. i don't always read his music through the lens of systemhood myself, but when i do it's very easy to connect to it in that manner. i think you did a really good and respectful job at presenting your interpretation of the album!! i'll admit, it's always a little worrying to me when people who aren't systems start making theories that involve the disorder for any kind of media, purely because there's so much misinformation and harmful tropes about it out there. but this didn't fall into any of those pitfalls for me. the fact chonny managed to depict the struggles of a system so well, seemingly unintentionally from the looks of that Q&A of his, and spark kind discussion & reflection on multiplicity is a very nice change of pace from how systemhood in media is often handled. good job man :)

Also, the Hidden In The Sand cover switches from singular pronouns ("I" and "me") to the collective noun "our" and also uses "our" and "I/my/me" within the same verse Which REALLY got me thinking about the theme of duality/plurality throughout the album.

4:32 the colors also match up with the colors of Mind and Soul Soul being grey from literally his first mention And Mind blue cause of the lipstick 7:52 I personally believe that “strike” in this context is referring to a KZbin strike, Since a few of his covers (fly me to the moon (so I can fight it), and probably one more since he says he’s batting his third strike) have been in silly situations with copyright And “chook” goes along with the theme of chicken puns throughout the song 8:22 Since Mucka Blucka was released so far into all of his covers, The line could’ve simply been referring to how chonny needs no introduction by now 12:24 Blues and Green has been a common theme in Chonnys music, Even before he made Tally Hall covers

Personally, as someone with DID, I completely agree with the idea that CCCC is related to the struggles faced by systems. I haven’t finished the full album yet but I can wholeheartedly state that I relate extremely heavily to the inner conflict shown in these songs, and it’s really cool to see other people saying the same!

Thank you this Theory!! We love this theory, it feels rather nice! We wanted to correct on osdd /did with amnesia. This differs person to person. Osdd has two different version, 1-A and 1-B. 1-A usually has amnesia between fronters.(those are people who have control over the body at the time) 1-B has little or none. If anyone wants to correct us we welcome it!

A small mini theory, yknow how the first song is time machine reprise? and how mucka blucka says that its the third strike? I think that its possible that this is the third time this has happened, although I could be like dead wrong and my brain is overeacting over every little thing but just felt like putting that out there

It could be a third suicide attempt, as the one referenced in this video is with a gun and referred to in past and present tense (and there could have been two attempts that we're misinterpreting as different ways if referring to only one), while at the end of The Soul Eclectic he sings about an attempt with a noose in present/future tense

Really happy someone else had the same thoughts as me. I also have some good friends who have OSDD or DID, my best friend being one of them, and have recently sent them some of Jash's music and maybe they'll come to the same conclusion. Think I'll also send them this video. :) Though one thing I differ on is that Alters are separate people mentally who are physically sharing the same body, though that could be me just nitpicking terminology. Really amazing video, and I'd love to see more about this album.

I think the songs having to be rearranged for the theory to work actually lends credit to it being the accurate interpretation. you did mention that dissociative disorders can take the form of dis-community between memories. by this logic, memories are contained in the tracks, and the timeline being scrambled there-by leans toward a dis-community between these memories

I find this video very intriguing. I usually do not comment on videos, but I figured that I may as well comment on this one, because you mentioned reading each comment. While listening to Chonny Jash (he may be my favorite artist as of now. For...many, many reasons. It is good to feel understood [to an extent] every once in a while, when you feel like an outlier), I figured he was referring to an OSDD system as well---or it can at least be interpreted that way. (I interpreted it that way.) I hadn't really encountered someone with that same thought---so I am glad to have stumbled upon your channel.

Also not really a correction to your stuff as much as a comment on the DSM-V and lack of study into dissociation, but DID and OSDD-b are more of a spectrum than entirely separate disorders, as therapy, improved internal communication, new traumas, etc. can heavily affect the degree of amnesia. I can remember another alter's memories perfectly and practically read their thoughts, but for a different alter everything is completely blocked, and for most it's in-between. The idea of them being entirely separate classifications rather than degrees of the same disorder based on the severity and amount of amnesia is a fault in the diagnostic system imo. I bring this up partially because I love to rant and partially because in this interpretation of the covers, Chonny could be in this between area. Heart shooting Mind is framed as something where all three are now aware of it as separate entities, but "as [Heart] missed...[he] finally realized" he shot at the whole, which to me implies that they were unaware of the system until the trauma of either a suicide attempt or intra-system violence brought it to the forefront. The line "but when he finally shot at me lines once solid were blurred" also makes me think that up until then there was harsher dissociative barriers keeping the alters apart. The other interpretation there is that that event caused the five seen in Welcome To Tally Hall, who were all separate alters, to blur and integrate into the Heart, Mind, and Soul that we know. Communication with Soul also seems more one-sided, with Mind and Heart having a lot of back-and-forth interactions compared to Soul initiating nearly every interaction or conversation about himself, which could indicate heavier dissociative barriers there. Soul also seems to view himself as not only a host but the others as "parasites inside of [him]", where he is more complete with the others as fragment additions rather than each being individual parts of a whole. This could be due to Soul's ego or issues or around power, or due to being partially locked out from the information on just how the system works. From the end of The Soul Eclectic, it seems almost like he's in denial and is using that suicide attempt as a way of proving his supposed control. Anyway we adore this album and this interpretation of it, great video!

I think that you are on the right tract but are missing context for how Chonny views the soul, especially with how he covered a more spiritualist song such as hallelujah and his cover of Hokum all ye faithful, (less important in how it was not modified too much, but the choice to cover it is interesting); with those in mind I think that you are missing what soul represents: Who Chonny was told and who he thinks he should to be. at least at the beginning of the story
