You cannot remove it on your own, and then this ritual called ” Choora Vadhana” (Removal of choora) takes place in which either Sister-in-Law or Mother-In-Law removes the Choora. Once you have removed Choora then it is either preserved for a lifetime or as per the family's tradition.
When can I remove choora after marriage?
A- Previously, Brides use to wear their choora for upto 1 year; some brides wear it for 40 days. But today with the change in life style & dressing sense; they can wear it up to any pre-decided time period within the time frame of one year. You can wear it for 7 days, 21 days, 40 days, 90 days or a complete year.
Why is chooda kept in milk?
Chooda is an important part of a Punjabi bride's solah shringar. This is one of the most evident marks of a new bride. Not only that, it is also known to bring good luck to the newlyweds.
