I think it’s because he’s in a lot of good dramas that is really popular in Korea but not really watched overseas. Like he’s in the reply series, hospital playlist, Mr. sunshine, all these have done so well In Korea and he’s a very reknown actor in Korea. But most of my friends in America say the reply series are boring and they breeze past Mr. sunshine to other dramas. That’s perhaps why many international fans don’t know him so he’s “underrated” to the international audience

Yoo Yeon Seok always slays any role. I admire his passion & versatility. I love Dr. Kang and Andrea but I guess portraying GU Dong Mae is on another level. Its legendary ! He really did an excellent job as GDM. ( Mr Sunshine )That's his first kdrama that I watched and I can't move on in his acting skills so i searched his other kdrama. Now, he made us fell in love to kindhearted Ahn Jeong Won .He really works hard to learned how to play drums. The duality of YYS is no joke. It doesnt matter if YYS is antagonist or protagonist, he can definitely give justice to his character. Yoo Yeon Seok never fails to amaze me. He nailed the character of dong Mae. He was so perfect his looks, ,his eyes, his acting everything was amazing and beautiful. I could feel the pain, hatred, anger, concerns, sadness and love in his eyes for ae shin. I cried hard when he died. He was smiling . The last line when he said 'you have paid me enough now don't come ', I felt he was going to die but I was not prepared to see him die... It's been two days since I have completed the serial and I am unable to get over dong Mae. I am thinking about him. The cinematography and the actors are so perfect that it feels like you are inside this show. It doesn't feel fake like the one being played on your phone or laptops. It feels so real that it is actually happening and you yourself are witnessing everything, like you are a part of this series... I don't know why this drama is underrated, this is a masterpiece for me, and Idt any drama could replace Mr sunshine's aura..

Dong Mae in Mr Sunshine. Epic and great acting. He had the best chemistry with the lead actress. Fighting skills were superb and he interchanged lines between korean and japanese beautifully. Somehow KZbin suggests this for me after a year :)) Reply 94 was my first Yoo Yeon Seok's drama but he always manages to make me love his roles in different ways. So looking forward to him playing lawyer in the next project.
