I'm 35 (almost 36) and have been dating for nearly 20 years with no luck. I've had to get on antidepressants because of my desire for a child. I always said that if I didn't have a child/partner by 37, I would begin looking into a sperm donor. People always talk about infertility (which I sympathize with greatly), but no one seems to talk about the simple fact of how hard it is to find a partner. I commend you for doing it at such a young age! Thank you for this video and information.

Honestly friend when do people not judge or have something to say? It's unfortunate but reality that folks are miserable within themselves and their own lives that they are quick to pass judgement on the next. You have to want to do it for YOU despite what others may say or think. Life doesnt always go as planned no matter what it entails and you must pivot and adapt as needed. Do tons of research, read SMBC books/blogs, connect with many of us in the community to get a sense of the pros/cons. Trust you'll know what God has planned for you and if its this route you will be covered throughout

He did all the testing, but freaks out because he feels that IVF isn't "natural"; even though I have a low AMH and he has male infertility. Right. I’m not sure why people think marrying before 25 is the thing to do. Studies show that those who marry by 25 are back on the market by 30. Also, the women are most likely to not marry well so they end up as single mothers anyway. According to studies Longer lasting marriages happen after 28 and it’s also the average marrying age for women in the west 28-35+. Yes, marriage can come later but as a woman, it’s better to be safe. Many are looking at other options to have a baby just incase.

I have a few family members that are against it, as it is different for them. They had their babies with their significant others and so they feel it’s taboo to have a baby with a stranger. There are so many STD diseases out there while trying one relationship to another. I know of a lot of children that was born in perfect marriages that ended as total psychos and criminals. Single parents can raise children that will have a great impact in society. There are good and bad in every situation. While Alicia has decided not to disclose the race she chose (and I respect that), research has shown that white is the preferred race and only outdone by the patient's own or partner's race. Until the black community and society stop assigning a higher status to lighter skin tones, black people will continue to be marginalised. So while it wasn't a factor for Alicia, it has been a factor for many other IVF patients.

The reason some people want to know the race is because other black women are looking and want to know if the option of a black doner is great or slim
@AliciaLatrice2 жыл бұрын
The pool for black donors was and continues to be extremely minimal unfortunately. This was another reason my selection journey was prolong because of the multiple cryobanks I had to filter through domestically and internationally for a black donor that also met the non negotiables I had in place. When I do come across them I share them on my IG story to bring awareness to other black SMBC 🤍

I am actually unsure of how at home insemination works as I underwent treatment at a fertility clinic. It would be best to contact the cryobank you select to confirm if that form or any other documentation is needed.

I disagreed with the college part because I felt like you were deciding your child’s future. I’m a college graduate and depending on your major, college can be overrated. College isn’t the only road to success. But good luck on your journey, I’m looking forward to watching. 💕
@AliciaLatrice3 жыл бұрын
This is true, but of course we all have our preferences 🤍I couldn’t agree more that college is overrated, honestly for more reasons than not and it isn’t the only road to success. I’ve always just been so keen on continuous education and my biggest fuel for even obtaining my masters was because neither of my parents went to college. Sadly, I have to admit that a lot of my professional success had a lot to due with obtaining a degree and oftentimes I wish it wasn’t solely based on that but allow ones work ethic and overall skills speak for itself. I truly appreciate you sharing your perspective and following alongside me friend ✨

I want to do this, but I really don't want my children to have half siblings outside of it. It's probably not best for me, as I admit that it is very selfish... but regardless, I can't control what the donor does later on in life so it wouldn't matter. I have half siblings from my father & we have issues due to not growing up in the same household + wide age gaps, so I've always had a thing about that, being the youngest of everyone & seeing it all unfold.
