Always great informative videos - I actually wished I saw this before wasting money on an anchor that doesn't really work well .. AND you speak perfect English, which is very rare with American videos .. I am American too -

is there one that is a good general use anchor? the lake I fish gets down to 45ft deep and is mostly windy and pretty choppy so I think I'm leaning towards the claw anchor, its got a mix of bottoms from rocky to muddy. Right now I use a 5lbs weight and when I'm over the rocky spots I can get a good anchor in but when I'm over the more shallow muddy parts there is nothing to wedge into and most of the time the wind is going and the gear i have plus sitting above the water picks up enough winds to make the anchor just skip across the bottom.

for kayaking ( SeaStream FeelFree) how much weight the anchor is best..? ( Iuse 750gr..isit too light..?
@CornishKayakAngler2 жыл бұрын
I would use other a 1.5kg grapnel with 1m of chain or if mainly anchoring on sand / clean ground, then use a 2kg claw anchor with 1m of chain. You will probably find that 750g is too light unless it is shallow and calm.

Hi great videos! Would you recommend a 1.5kg anchor for a 2+1 kayak with 2 adults and a toddler? Thanks
@CornishKayakAngler2 жыл бұрын
Hi Maddie, Yes a 1.5kg anchor should be fine but I would recommend using this with a short length of chain to give it more holding power - I have run through this in a another video so check this out if you are not sure! Another good option for larger kayaks when anchoring on clean ground (sand, shingle, mud etc) is a 2kg Bruce / Claw Anchor also used with a short length of chain. I hope this helps 😀

What’s the best anchor for deep water with a rocky bottom?
@CornishKayakAngler2 жыл бұрын
I would go for a Grapnel Anchor set up with a anti-snag set-up. Check out my other anchoring videos for details on how to do this 😀 I would use a 1.5kg anchor with a meter or so of chain for depths up to around 100ft when anchoring a kayak. For deeper waters you may want to go up to a 2.5kg anchor with 1-2m of chain for better holding power. Hope this helps!

Where did you get the 1 kg Bruce anchor from
@CornishKayakAngler4 жыл бұрын
It is from a company called Sealect. They should have dealers all over the place. In the U.K. I got this from Cornwall Canoes.

At 72yo I was unable to hear virtually anything you said. Try speaking closer to the mic.

KZbin ruined the Audio on a few of my uploads. It’s fine on the original copy but when upload it’s muted down. Haven’t been able to work out why. Only fix is to turn your volume right up! Sorry!
