ALWAYS enjoy Leah's videos. She makes learning so much easier because of her style of presentations. Not too slow, not too fast..Perfect! I also love the way she spends so little time on the minutiae and more time on the brevity and content of the information. Thank you Leah...you are perfect!

Thank you so much for this video! It was extremely helpful! I'm fairly new at this and still trying to understand how to brew a great espresso. I am in the process of looking for an accurate scale. I do not want to spend more than $100. Is there anything out there that someone could recommend? Thank you!
@decanator64533 жыл бұрын
any food scale will work as far as i know. there is really no need to buy a super high quality scale for home brewing, it would make the most minuscule difference. although im no expert, i would strongly recommend a bur grinder instead, if you dont have one already

I got mine from Amazon. You can get some really cheap Chinese generic scales there, but quality is hit or miss, and they really don't like liquid dripped on them! I went for mid price scales with timer that can weigh up to 3kg in 1/10ths of a gram increments. Quality is definitely worth the few bucks extra compared to the pot luck cheapos

I do like this format of explaining ratios, but I think there is some clarification needed about one point. The 1:1 ratio should be 1 part dry grounds:final beverage. So a ristretto would be roughly 17g dry grounds to 17 grams finished drink weight. Not input water weight.

I’m so confused. All the videos I watched says I should have 2 ounces of expresso when I pull a double shot… I press the button for a double shot and no matter how I grind the coffee, I still don’t get more than 30-45 ml of expresso… I’m making lattes at home and using the breville bambino… I’ve thrown out so many shots of pressing cuz I thought I was doing it wrong… now this is making me think I wasted a bag of coffee and they were all fine 🤦🏽♀️
@yz2492 жыл бұрын
You can pull the shots manually with the bambino, the default works based on volume and is inconsistent. Press and hold the button for preinfusion, release and it will brew at full pressure. Press the button again when you reach your target yield and it will stop the shot.

If you get fed up replacing scales because they get wet sitting under a portafilter, it's handy to know that 1 ml of water weighs 1 gm at normal room temperature. So 30gm coffee = 60ml output on your shot glass!
