Choosing Handwriting Fonts for use with a ScanNCut Pen Tool

For ages I've been trying to find out how to draw single line words in ScanNcut. Thankfully, I stumbled across your video this morning. Thank you so much for such an informative video. It was clear and concise and so easy to follow without being so high tech that we get lost half way through! So far all your videos I have seen are the same - Brilliant!. You are one amazing lady. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I was ready to return my snc2 because I thought I just couldn't figure it out and I was getting frustrated. I went to the website you mentioned in your video and downloaded a couple of fonts I want to give a try to .. I would do it now, but it's late at my end so I'll give it a shot tomorrow. This video has helped me a lot. I have tons of fonts on my laptop I wish to use with my ScanNcut. Maybe some day scanNcut will make it an option to do so without having to go through inkscape.

Thank you very much, I was getting fed up thinking I would have to settle for Brother fonts. One thing I did discover when I was messing about was that , it does fill in the outline. When you press the size box, the box with the pen icon is the fill button, so regardless of font or image, as long as that button is on, the highlighted image or font will be filled. I discovered that when doing some foiling. Hopefully the info will help somebody.

Do you know where to get the tools like the little pics that you use in the scissors and stuff like that I want to Walmart to look for the pics and stuff like that for brother but Walmart does not carry anything for the brother machine they just carry items for the cricket machine but I was looking for like the scissors the pick

Thank you for all the wonderful videos! I am making Quinceanera invitations for a friend's daughter, and I want to foil the text. I followed this video and got my font, and found another video that showed how to create all the text in Inkscape. I was successful saving it and then doing a test draw on my ScanNCut, but I found the font was hard to read once drawn. I found another font and went through the process again. Once I got it in Canvas, I noticed I had two lines switched. Is there a way to reverse the Path -> Union function so I can get the two lines put in the proper place? I have been at this all day, so I don't really want to start from scratch again...

Hi I don't think there is i dont use inkscape anymore haven't used it for a few years. if you download the Canvas version that is now available as download for PC or Mac from canvas you can use all the fonts you have on your computer, it may be an easier way to use different fonts for you now.

Hi . Just wondering as time has gone on if you know the names of any single line fonts to try - I too followed your video and installed new Dafont fonts but cannot get it to draw in single line - any ideas please as really wish scanncut had a simpler way of drawing in single line format. PS I am now trying to do this in the new workspace software.thanks, Tracey

I just use any font i have and use the pattern solid fill if its not a single stroke font. i have videos on my channel in the "fonts" playlist

I just found your video and followed it a few times. I downloaded some fonts from the site you gave but every one of them still created a double line in Scan N Cut. I did use the September Mornings font. I followed it exactly, it looks ok in Canvas but when you take it into the machine, you can see straightaway it created an outline as opposed to a single stroke! Never mind, not sure why it did not work for me.

Ok, you can use the fill option I showed in the recent live stream video to fill in as well, if your having problems

What am I doing wrong? I have followed your video to the letter and I still get an outline font that gets filled in. Are their any specific settings in the SNC that I am missing please?

You will always get an outline with SNC because thats all it sees, so you either have to fill it in, making sure you have selected that feature on your machine i have a video showing how to do that in the Font playlist, or you need to choose a font as i showed in this video and draw it small it will depend what tip you have on your pen as to what result you get, the other alternative is to fins single stroke fonts which i think i mentioned in this video which is now 3 yrs old. you can now also use fonts installed on your computer by using the SNC Canvas download programme.

@@applelover53 thank you for clarifying that. I was hoping to do single line calligraphy using a thick nibbed calligraphy pen. But not to worry. It is strange you saying that you did this 3 years as it is all new to me.

If you have a specific font you could try it with your thick nib pen, my channel has been covering scanncut videos for probably 5 years or more now, some some of the videos are old, but are still watched so i leave them all on YT.

Nice video, but I have a question. I did the same what you did in the video to see what result I get. But still, the Scanncut draws a double line. You showed us a nice single (thick) line of all the letters. What am I doing wrong? My letters do have the same font and height.

+Alex Smid If you used the same font and the exact same size you should get the same results, there was no trickery involved, the only thing i can think of is if your draw pressure in the machine settings are set lower than mine and i cannot remember what i used, the more pressure the thicker line you will get from your pen.

I would open the card shape in canvas workspace add the text that you want make sure you apply the text as a draw line and the shape as a cut line and send it to your machine

I have followed the video and when I ask my Scan n Cut to draw the writing, it says there is no pattern in the effective area but if I ask it to cut it out, it recognises the writing. Any ideas?
